Well, with the current administration "helping" the recession, it certainly should have "legs."

Well, I heard from Leonard Hevia. He stated that he had read my challenge in which I asked him to produce an extensive amount of Paul Fox cups.
I did not ask him to produce ANYTHING. I challenged him to tell me how many of these sets he has. I also stated: Quote:
Leonard Hevia can read a sentence and take a completely different meaning from it than anyone else will. Q.E.D. I must admit that he actually does have a set of the PF .050 cups, which he purchased from someone else.

I'm not just collecting cups, I'm collecting information and history. Just to dispel any thoughts that the RnT II Paul Fox .050 Copper Cups are some kind of RnT II JES Squatty "respins", I have posted the following comparison photo on photobucket. http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv321......ison.jpg The caption explains all of it. The photo was taken at a slight downwar angle, so the viewer could see at least a part of the back of the cup rim in each shot. If I had taken it at an upward angle, I could have made it appear that the lacrosse ball went absolutely to the bottom of the cup. I want these to be legit photos. As it stands, it makes the ball appear to protrude more than it actually does. The ball is a yellow lacrosse ball, 2.48 inches in diameter. A 2.47 inch ball would have fit better. I noticed as I selected various Paul Fox cups from Danny Dew, that there was a very wide variation in the fit of the ball into the cups. There were a few in which the ball protruded almost 3/16 of an inch. That's why I recommend that you take your cups to the place where you buy the balls.

Bill, thank you for the photos. Jr. and I went to Dicks Sporting goods today. Much to our dismay the store no longer sells single Lacrosse balls, only 12 packs. So I picked up a 12 pack.
When we returned home tonight I took the same manufacturer's ball that we keep in the shop to check the cups and it fit fine, the cups set flat on the surface. We then took one of the new balls, actually all 12 and they protruded greatly. Again all the balls came from the same manufacturer. The protrusion was slight in some cups, very pronounced in others. But the original we use to work around fit fine in each and every cup. I think this sheds some light on how much room there is in measurements when it comes to the word "Regulation" Dad told me what stopped the JES Squatty cups from taking a lacrosse ball was the recess created when spinning in the shoulder beads. In the beginning he explained that he and the Dr. tried grinding down the protrusion on the inside of the cup and it worked, but caused the beading to fail because too much copper was removed. This is where the incarnation of the JES Squatty II cups came into play. |

Twenty-five years ago, I could go into any sporting goods store that carried lacrosse balls, buy three balls, and all of them would fit. That just doesn't happen any more. There has never been anything in the "Paul Fox cup specifications" that said that they were guaranteed to take any lacrosse ball you dropped into them.
Regarding the JES Squatty situation -- that would be consistent with my findings when measuring these cups. It's not all about the mouth diameter. Load capacity is a very complex matter. But these findings are logical. Remember, the JES Squatty cups started out as copies of an unusually short Paul Fox cup from a mismatched set that Dr. Schweid purchased from J.P. Jackson. I think we need to remember, these balls are called "lacrosse balls," not "Paul Fox load balls." BTW, I'm happy to post those photos. There are a number of people who have made similar allegations about these particular Paul Fox cups, and they really need to be aware of what is really going on inside those cups. It is not just about one person's uninformed remarks.

Bill, as always your analysis and explanation demonstrates the differences between the cups, however to somebody that it is just buying a set of cups and does not have many cups to compare these cups are/look the same with the differences that a manual process could produced. Just my opinion.
The only certainty about the cups is the one that the specific manufacture reputation gives you. In my case and with my previous experience with RNT2 if they sell me a set of PF cups I will accept them as PF without second thoughts. Pablo |

Thanks for posting that photo, Bill. A picture tells a thousand words!
Out of interest, is there much difference between the JES Squatty (RnT2) and the original runs of cups from Dr Schweid?
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler

Not at all. The characteristics are about the same. The curve of the top of the cup breaks considerably higher than on the PF .050 copper cups, by the way.
I also found one of my "worker" lacrosse balls. It's a 2.47 inch ball. It dropped all the way in the Paul Fox .050 cup.

Bill, you put captions on that photo, I am confused, I thought normal hearing people were against that kind of thing??? I thought the world was going to fall apart when they saw that. Did your fingers explode when you typed in the caption?
Don't give people the wrong idea, they might acturally try to Closed-Caption/subtitle their DVDs. ****Just kidding and thank you we need more this **** |

I did that to show the rest of the "hearing world" that it takes so little effort, yet means so much!
Seriously, I understand the problem. My dad was profoundly deaf.

Mr. Hevia must have been to a different shop and met someone else as he has never met Jake nor been to our shop, there appears to be nothing but pathological lies in his claims, he must feel the need to be important. Jake can count the number of people he has had in the shop on 2 hands and Leonard is not one of them. On another note, Full size backordered Don Alans begin shipping on 2/25, Wed. thank you for everyones continued patience. Epiphany |

Always exciting to hear about cups being shipped!
It is interesting to hearing about they are spun, etc. Thanks Bill and Epiphany for your information and education. Good to have the history and the examples of the Squatties and the PF cups. RevJohn |
