You can search the Café for multiple threads on these rings. The ones from SuperMagnetMan are often recommended.
http://www.supermagnetman.net/index.php?......8714fa80 They range in price from $7.00 to $10.50 depending on the size. Magnetic rings are not very durable due to the nature of the material used to make them, but with careful handling they'll last a long time. They're cheap from SMM so you can order a couple at a time and always have one as a back-up should you break one. |

Not a problem with the Master Ring System, it will not break, but it is not cheap.

Hi Alex...
What do you wanna achieve with the ring? Coin in hand effects? Stop Watches effects? If you wanna create a stop watch effect, just glue a small magnet in your everyday ring... for me works bye!

Besides the two types of rings already discussed in my above post, there is a third New N50 Wedding Ring available. And, to the best of my knowledge, this Ring (I have one ) is the strongest (magnetic strength wise) of all (available as on-date). Though I have quite a few different size & grades of magnet rings, I only use these rings for detecting a magnetic or ferromagnetic object(s)/ field. For all other magic purpose (effects) which needs holding of a flat surface object (like metal bottle caps, steel coins etc.) I use a simple disc magnet 8mm dia x 2.5mm thick - N40 grade (Magnetized through the thickness) hidden under a Band-Aid. This tiny magnet has a much stronger holding power than a magnet ring. A magnet ring, due to its inherent round (cylindrical) shape along with or without a rounded surface, makes a point or a line contact with an object it holds. Thus the holding power of a magnet ring will be many times lesser than that of a tiny flat (disc or square) magnet of the same strength just because of their difference in surface contact area. I can compare and list many advantages/ limitations between a magnet ring & a tiny flat magnet, but later . . . Incase you don't like the idea of using a Band-Aid, you might like to checkout Hank Morfin's 'Any Ring PK Gimmick'. My $0.02!

I have ordered MANY various rings & other magnets from this site. I have NEVER had an issue with their service. I am not sure what the problem was with Korhan's order, I guess nobody's perfect...However, this site was recommended to me by someone who was very happy with the service, selection and price and I can say the same. I turned several people on to this site and as far as I know they all have been happy with their Rings etc...
I wouldn't be afraid to order from this site.... at least based on my multiple orders with them. I am really glad I was told about this site! Best, Bk |

My biggest problems with many of the PK rings are that too many of them look like wedding rings. My wife puts up with a lot with my magic, but I could never convince her that I need to stop wearing my real gold wedding ring for another ring not made of gold that she didn't get me! Putting a PK ring that looks like a wedding ring on the right hand just doesn't look right because wedding rings are worn on the left hand. Add to all this add the fact that I am right-handed, thus a PK ring on my right hand is much easier for me to do the many effects I wanted to do with one.
After years of searching, I finally resorted to what I usually do when it comes to looking for something unique and usable to me in magic: I made my own. I made one that does not look like a wedding band so that I can wear it on my right hand. I was able to choose the exact ring style I wanted and I was able to choose the strength PK I wanted. The area with the PK is flat, and while some people will automatically reject such a notion, I would add that some of the first PK rings on the market decades ago had the PK areas flat on them; it has NEVER been noticed by spectators; and a flat area provides much greater contact area providing more strength. It also allows you to add an extra one (or two!) on for those effects that require and extra boost of power. Plus the entire ring is not nearly as fragile. This is not to say that the round wedding band PK rings are bad. If that is what a person wants and they can use one, more power to them. If anyone wants information on how to make one like I have now been using for around 10 years, PM me.

May I suggest modifying a poison ring? There are pretty common.
I filed off the hinge to make less obvious and then super glued shut to hold everything in place. It worked for me. I agree with Ustadd and Chris, this could resolve both issues, you will get the most power from a flat magnet and yet have a ring. JerryB |

Altpeter's MRS is a great-looking signet ring, which sets it apart from most PK rings, but unfortunately it doesn't come in a size small enough for my bony little fingers.

The price of neodymium magnets is going way up as the demand for the rare earth elements used to make them has shot way up in the last few years. I would recommend; wherever you buy your magnetic rings from, order them soon.

I’d also like to add this, and I’m sure this is debatable but be conscious of how strong the magnetic ring is you buy. I have discussed with another magician buddy of mine the same issue of a ring being too powerful. Sometimes you may “stick” to things you don’t want to, or the ring becomes really obvious as it clanks against metal. Just food for thought…
