Hey guys, can you guys help me out? Can you give me a list of tricks that get HUGE, HUGE, like screaming and freaky unexplainable tricks, for street magic. Like Needle Through Arm and Invisible Deck and Levitation along those lines. Can you guys me the names of them cause I cant seem to find anything good? Thanks guys.

I get fantastic response with linking rings. Turn on some freaky music (I use Tubular Bells, the theme from 'The Exorcist') and off I go. Even if I don't have any spectators to start I draw a crowd in minutes.
Gazzo draws big crowds with cups and balls, although I doubt that I'd draw such a big crowd. It's his patter that does it. In a large part, it's the magician, not the trick. There's a limit to that though. I don't care how good you are, your crowd is going to be limited with certain tricks, like card tricks. |

Ahhh, it's not the speed of the trick either. None of my tricks are done fast. All my magic is as slow and relaxing as a Texas sunrise. Again, not the trick - it's the magician.

Well, personally, I don't go for the screaming reaction. I somewhat doubt you can get that reaction consistantly unless you have a camera crew behind you. That said, the reaction I look for is "Do it again!" I love those words. When I hear those words, I know I did it just right.

Also, I agree with rikbrooks, speed is not the most important thing whatever you do, just make sure you do it well. Its hard to suggest effects without knowing what you like and what your good at.

My favrite trick to perform on the "street" is recap by Greg Willson, five piece trick with continues misdirection. Completely inpromtu as well!

Check out Gazzo's Cups and Balls. That's a fun street piece and works really well if you borrow his style and go a little blue.

I do Fiber Optics, starting off by making the trick look really dodgy, then I move into doing it properly. When I take off the ends of the rope, people always freak

I agree with Rikbrooks-
Slow down -make it entertaining I always use Linking Rings to music-Draws a crowd real quick& visually gets people interested- If you have a good routine your crowd will respond! I have heard people laugh & say Wow!!-How did that happen-Oh My God & clap!!-All for the simple but effective vanishing Hanky with TT. All Depends on how you present each effect as to the reactions etc A recent market day show I performed at-The Diminishing cards got the biggest reaction of the day-Go Figure!! |

I second Spanky on Fiberoptics, although I do 3 Ropes and a Baby with a Professor's Day Dream at the end.
The reactions were: How did that happen?, Do it Again?, Jaws dropping and a thunderous applause at the end. Las Vegas Leaper - has somehow built my reputation, that everytime I meet my previous victims, they always tell their friends how I made cards fly from my hands to his. They could not forget the numbers 10 to 13 and 13 to 16 cards. Cannibal Cards - always gets an applause at the end for me. Ambitious Card Routine - really strong Pyro Perception - freaks them out |
