I am reworking my kid's show and want to put in a couple more effects.
What rabbit related effects to be do in the lead up to producing a rabbit? |

Spring Rabbits, Flat Rabbits, Silk Rabbits, etc.
For years, I did a rabbit production running gag. I said "And now, the World's Greatest Trick...you know the one, where the magician pops open his hat, reaches inside and pulls out a...." "Skunk.. Pee-U," then a bit with a sprink Skunk. Next time, "And now, the World's Greatest Trick...you know the one, where the magician pops open his hat, reaches inside and pulls out a...." "A Flat Rabbit, "Oh No...I forgot to take him out last time...." Bit with flat rabbit. Next time, "And now, the World's Greatest Trick...you know the one, where the magician pops open his hat, reaches inside and pulls out a...." "Taa-DAAA a rabbit", picture of a rabbit on a silk. Bit with silk and then mention each time I forgot to say the magic word, I get the kids to say the magic word and produce a real rabbit ala-standard silk steal. I've also done it with a spring rabbit, and a flat skunk on one side with a flat rabbit on the other called it, "Rab-Bunk" This running gag always played well, and the kids anticipated a rabbit. Obviously, the production ended the show because the kids wanted to pet the rabbit. Rabbits have a tendency to up-stage a magican.

I use the silk rabbit (mentioned above), pointing out that my rabbit has the day off, but here's a picture of her.
Her name's Esther; you've heard of her, haven't you? When they say "no", you reply: "What? You've never heard of the Esther Bunny?" Depending on the age of the audience and if adults are present in a relatively large number (or for adult shows), I continue: "She's got a sister, Pearl. She's the Oyster Bunny. "And a brother, Chloroform. He's the Ether Bunny." By this time the audience is either in stitches laughing or ready to hang you! In either case, you can then move into the real bunny production. |

Peter,
I love those lines. I've used the Esther Bunny bit but Pearl is gem of a line, Ether one of them are great additions to bits of business. Thanks.
