Anyone know where I can get some of that Old Time Charlie Chaplin music. If you have seen any of the Eccentricks DVDs it's that type of music.
Thanks, John |

John,
If you go to the Internet Movie Database and search out Chaplin you will get a list of his movies. The vast majority of his films were silent with the music overlaid on them. You will be able to purchase a film and get the music from that as there will be no other sounds. Don't be fooled by those cut up shorts they show on late night TV with cartoon sounds added to them. These were in the original films and won't be on any of the available DVD's or tapes. As well you can purchase a collection of his music on CD. I think its called " The Chaplin Collection" or something simular. I saw it once in a music store. Another option is to order the soundtrack to the movie from a few years back. The movie was simply called " chaplin" and contained some of his music as well as several score pieces that say " silent movie". Hope this helps. FYI....Chaplin composed all his own music. Chaplin wrote the music to a lot (if not all) of his films.

I know he sang in " The Gold Rush" but I can't remember any other times he sang on film.
I'm glad to see there are still people interested in Chaplin. He was a genius , no doubt about it. Too bad many people won't watch any of those films because they are silent or black and white. They don't know what they are missing. Chaplin was a great story teller. I still get this big lump in my throat in the ending scene of " City Lights" or for that matter " The Kid" Tim |
