I asked the question because Andy said he would not use an I-pod,
I tend to agree with him actually both these formats use compressed audio. Nearly everyone has the ability to burn non-compressed CD, s these days on their home computer and just hand them to the sound guy! In a professional setting none of these consumer toys are needed!

Remember those old M*A*S*H episodes where Hawkeye & Winchester would exchange insults endlessly, pretending to talk about an actual issue, but really each of them just seemed to want to make sure it look like it was the other guy who was being unreasonable, and both of them seemed like their facts might be right if you looked at things a certain way, but really it had stopped being about the issue, and now both of them were just being rude to each other, and each of them really just seemed to want to hurt the other guy, and we'd laugh & laugh because they couldn't make themsleves stop behaving so badly because they just had to be seen to be right no matter the cost, and we all would say, "I know a couple of guys like that!", and somebody else would say, "No way anybody could be that bad!", and we'd laugh & laugh some more, and they'd just keep talking & arguing & insulting, thinking nobody knew how ridiculous it was, and saying, "He started it, Colonel!", and, "I'm not name-calling, Colonel! He's the one who's name-calling!", and before you knew it no-one else could really participate in the conversation anyomre, and then Klinger would make a joke about trying to chase a tank in high heels and that would break the pattern and everyone would start to behave in better?
(Hmm, I wonder what would happen if ...) That's easy for you to say! You try chasing a tank in high heels!

Bloodyjack,
Obviously, I can't speak for Andy, but I know that at my place of business (Canada's largest audio-lighting-video-staging production company), we use MD a fair bit. Even then, there's often a back-up MD deck, and a back-up disc. "Professional setting" covers a lot of ground, and we certainly do have clients who show up with burned CDs, iPods and various other playback devices. Since you mentioned burned CDs, check out my article on that topic. It's kinda boring, but covers a lot of ground, geared toward burning CDs that will be useable in the greatest number of players, since you may have to rely upon a back-up or in-house CD player. http://www.magicroadie.com/showcd.html Cheers! Dan.

I've actually found AirClick somewhat harder to use. It's not as responsive as my RemoteRemote2, and the range is about the same.
I've found that the RemoteRemote2 works wonderfully. I get around the range problem by timing my routines so I'm close to the iPod when I change tracks (which I have to be anyway, since it's also my "applause area"). It fits perfectly in my the tiny additional front pocket of my slax (I think it's for keys) so I can trigger it by raising my hand to my waist or by keeping my hand on my hips. Fade-to-pause hasn't been necessary, since each track change occurs during applause. Thanks to the 20-minute silent track between each song, the iPod never sleeps and changes quickly. |

Now can someone make a remote, in the same price range, for other brands of CD, MP3, and MD players? |
