Quintuplicate Coincidence by York & Van Vranken
---------------oOo----------------- Effect/Description: Here is Scotty York's version of David Van Vranken's version of the classic Gemini Twins. This has been redesigned and given a new facelift using a gambling or casino theme. This deck of cards is made entirely of different backs from various casinos from Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Two prediction cards are delt face up on the table by the magician, who then has two spectators each select a card from the balance of the face down deck. Now, not only do the two selections match the prediction cards, but when turned over, the backs match as well! For the climax, the deck is spread face up on the table, where it is seen that the selections and the predictions are the only black cards in the entire deck. The rest of the deck is diamonds and hearts. All can be examined. No switches, no sleight-of-hand. A self working effect with a terrific Scotty York casino theme presentation. Complete with special deck and booklet of instructions. --------------------------------------- The above ad copy accurately describes what I think may well be an improvement on Karl Fulves' classic effect Gemini Twins (see More self-Working Card Tricks -Dover 1984). It is not often that I like new or improved handlings of old time standards, as normally such so called improvements usually muddy what started as very clear water. However, I think in this case such reworking deserves your attention...it certainly caught mine. Professional magician Scotty York has teamed up with the Café's own David Van Vranken (with a little help from the Denny & Lee Magic Studio) to bring you a totally new take on Karl Fulves' original masterpiece. I think the idea of using various casino cards (a kind of gamblers rainbow deck) is excellent, especially with the popularity of poker which can be seen everywhere these days. Add to that the bonus of the deck faces being opposite color the chosen cards and predictions at the end and you have what I think is a genuine winner on your hands. Indeed, this effect is now dressed up in such a way that it screams for a great gambling story. You are supplied with the special deck of cards and a 18 page booklet of instructions written by Jamy Ian Swiss. There are no illustrations, but the text is so well written that no drawings or photos are required. Now, while the ad proclaims; "Self-working" (we all know there is no such thing), I will still venture to say that this is probably about as close as you're ever going to get. Let me put this another way, seasoned pro's will be doing this right away while beginners will at least grasp the mechanics in a very short time. Because the workings of the effect are so easy to execute (even a cave man could do it), you'll find plenty of time to come up with your very own story and presentation that will keep your audience amazed and amused. I'll close by saying that If you are a close-up worker you should really consider adding this to your current set. Recommended. --------------------------------------- My rating: Suggested retail: $25.00 Available EXCLUSIVELY from Denny & Lee 5115 South Industrial Road #907 Las Vegas, NV. 89118 Order: (702) 740-3500 24-Hour Fax: (702) 740-3501 You can also contact Denny & Lee directly at: dennymagic@aol.com To visit the Denny & Lee site: Click here!
