Can anyone give me a review on this trick? I am thinking about getting it. How hard is it to use and stuff like that.
thanks mike |

Hi there,
The B.I.P book is great. Once you have learned the routine, you will carry it everywhere and can perform with no preparation. The great thing is, the effect is modular, so you can perform all, some or just one phase, making it a VERY flexible effect / routine. If you haven't seen Peter at Alakazam dem this, you are missing out, it's a killer in the right hands Hope this helps! Gary |

I'll second the fact that it's very easy to use. In fact, I'm inclined to think too easy. Don't get me wrong, I'm the first to look for ease of use in mental effects, ( I'd much rather concentrate on the presentation ) but I just had doubts about how it would impact.
Let me say straight off that I haven't performed this, so I can't fully comment until I've seen it in action. Gary obviously loves it and must be getting the right noises when he uses it. When I saw the number force, for example, I did cringe. It's an old chestnut, but if it roasts who am I to argue. The time force is even easier. I also thought it might be a bit bigger. It's about 8cm by 10cm, small note pad size, and a bit unprepossessing. I was thinking pocket diary size, but the mechanics of this obviously dictate its look. Scott Creasey, the author, says he's used it in varied situations for over three years, and that's obviously where the proof of this thing lies, in the performing. So take my rather negative review and put it in this context; you can't always judge a book by its cover. It's just I'm yet to be convinced.

Hi Dr,
The reason I like this is down to its simplicity. I still carry more Final Flashback and other such tests, but BIP is great for small groups in informal situations, especially when you really cant be doing with any hard work, BIP is something you can rely on as once you have learned it, you can do it anytime! I like the fact that you can engage 5 (or more) spectators with one gimmick and do something genuine with each person. You can build a cohersive story for every one of these. Have you found the extras that are included in the non-force part?

BIP 1 is better than BIP 2. The time on the page is written in 24-hour format (i.e. 1700 as oppose3d to 5:00) This confuses spectators here in the US as they are not familure with it, and they are not sure if that is the number they are to select or the time. This can be handled with spectaor management, but it is an issue that does not occure with the BIP 1. Other than that small issue, it is fantastic. A clean, straight forward book test. Although, it would be nice to also have an examinable copy of the book, people really want to look at it.

Yes, but unless I remember incorrectly, BIP 1 had key references to the Queen and a fifty pound note. That doesn't play well in the US.

I think you could use it for walk around, but you may only want to perform different portions at different tables. That would definitely throw anybody who was following you from table to table.

I still used it but usually only for the geometric portion. Excellent little tool to build on.

The BIP can certainly be used for walk around performances. I use it all the time and it really does get great reactions when performed.

I agree with Peter, 100% it can be used for walk around performances! It is very versatile, the right size and it's disguise gives credence as to why you would have such a book on your person. This is a great effect and the older and more used it becomes, the more authentic it looks. I have added a dark green spine along the top of my copy. This, I believe, gives it more of a 60's/70's appearance as well as hiding the staples. Any 'memory work' is almost non-existent, leaving the performer free to take it all the way with their presentation.

I own BIP 2.0 - its great - but if you want something a bit more psychically eerie for a few more bucks for for one of the HOMICIDE books from OUTLAW - although be warned the power in those books can cause SANity loss.

Is there a way to replace or make a new book when this one gets worn out?
