What a great performer can do, is to invite an audience into an arena that they have never experienced before, perhaps an area that they never dreamed they could possibly enjoy, and thoroughly engage them so thoroughly they divest themselves of whatever preconceived notions or even objections they might have had prior to the experience as they happily join in on the ride. After the journey is over, they have not just experienced new things, they have thoroughly enjoyed them to the point where they can’t wait to tell their friends about them, and can’t wait to see, join, and experience them again both for themselves and the joyful eyes of others. That defines a truly great performer; that defines Todd Robbins.
I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying Todd work; the last time was in the company of Wesley James and other performers of note. After the fun was over, and spotlights dimmed—all I could say is that I’ve never seen it done any better, and I really don’t think it can be done any better than the way Todd does it—thoroughly entertaining his audiences, amazing them, making them laugh, wonder, and dearly longing for more. Everyone who heard that remark immediately nodded in unison. All the attributes that are vital to star quality are present in a Todd Robbins performance. You are being enchanted by a true professional whose gift of talent is obvious. You are being thrilled by a man who obviously cares more about the audience than himself; you are being alternately baffled and bemused by a man that can only be described as a genuine gentleman. That is a taste of what the Todd Robbins experience is all about, but only that. There is no substitute for Todd Robbins live and in person—and if you have yet to avail yourself of that opportunity—you have really missed something. Congratulations to Mr. Robbins for taking time out from his many projects to visit with Magic Café members. Todd, you deserve far more “Brooks Coffee Mugs” than can be made. Your many contributions have never gone unnoticed by those who really care about performance art. |

Thank you Randy. I've made some interesting choices in my life and have traveled down some interesting roads. It's nice to hear that people like what I do.
I try to put as much of myself into what I do as possible and it's rewarding to have validated by people I respect. I look forward to seeing you down the road soon. |

I have made a couple of quick trips out LA way in the last year. I spent a few days taping Vols 1 & 2 of the bar betchas videos that will be sold to the public. Magicians probably won't be that interested in them, as for the most part they feature the old warhorse bets.
Sometime in the future, we will complete the trilogy and when I set up that trip, I will let you know Pete. I hear they have this private club for magician at 7001 Franklin Ave. in Hollywood or something. We will have to have lunch there. I'll drag along my parole officer Aye Jaye. Since many are interested in the Sideshow School in Coney Island, but can't make the trip, I may do some two day seminars around the country. If I do, I will probably hit LA, Chicago, possible Vegas and maybe Boston. We'll see. I am currently in jeopardy of loosing my title as The Laziest Man in Show Business. |
