Anyone knows where I can find mic holders that is a thick metal wire that does round your neck and come to the front where the mic is held right outside your mouth? I feel it works better than those string ones that hang over the neck as for this one, the mic is held directly at the mouth. Anyone knows where to get these?

Check out the Gim-Crack Mic Holder.
Works pretty well. I'm not sure who sells them anymore, but I'm sure there are a few dealers out there selling them. |

I just bought a Gimcrack and I like it. I got it from Al Good, but I can't find his email address. You can find him on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WORLDVENTS/.
There's a different model on sale on MagicAcution.com. It looks like it would work just as well and the price is close enough. |

Hocus Pocus sold one that held the mike out from the body. I use a Gimcrack holder. Cinch it up close to your throat, for best results. Also, use a hypercardoid mike with it.

You can get the Gim-Crack Microphone Holder at The Magic Warehouse for $10 bucks. Use the link below. For some reason you can't use MW search engine to find it. They are super fast on shipping!

You might want to check malloymodernmagic.com and see what they have to offer.
Do not go where the path may lead, but go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

The Gim-Crack is the better of the two because it holds the mic out further from your chest. I have used one for a couple years now after trying others that either looked conspicuous and ugly or held the mic too close to my chest. One of the best 10 bucks I ever spent.

Hello:
The Mic Holder that Magic_Streak is asking about is different from the Malloy and Gimcrack holders. I used to have the web address, but still remember it's made by a guy in Australia named Dan Lord. It's a rigid, rubber coated heavy wire that goes around your neck and holds the Mic out if front of your mouth, just like it would be if the mic were on a stand. If I can find the web address, I'll post it. The mic is expensive, though. I think it's $50.00 to $60.00 - maybe more. Ron |

About being conspicuous, I agree that it's good to have one that doesn't draw too much attention. I once saw Carrot Top perform with his -- he uses a bright white one that seems to be very rigid against his chest. He did a great show, but I constantly felt myself staring at his mic holder.

Michael Finney uses a Gimcrack. It isn't noticed during his performance.
Steve Hart uses a piece of thick cable, held in a loop by heat shrink tubing. It's bent to hold a mike out from the body. |

Michael Finney has also used a cut rope. It really set up the magicians as they thought he was going to do a rope trick.
