Hi Richard! it's the last day....your fingers probably will hurt, due to your generosity....so I won't make any question for today....happy about that?
But I wanna say: THANK YOU SO MUCH RICHARD! This week has been invaluable! I invite the members to write here what they have just learnt during this week, write even only one thing....because of course we will learn many other things reading again all the posts, but let's start with one.... I have learnt to don't explain too much to the audience, just being more concise and let the effect talks. THANK YOU AGAIN RICHARD! I care you, please don't ever change! Giacomo De Carlo |

Giacomo, what have I learned? Boy howdy, it may take me a few months to learn everything which has been tossed into the knowledge pool this week!
- I learned for certain that making the magic convincing elevates one's audience; it doesn't demean them. That disclaimers, far from weakening the show, can actually strengthen it. To paraphrase Richard and Sherlock Holmes, when you've eliminated the impossible AND the possible, whatever remains is mystery. - I learned that "just doing something" is ten times more effective than challenging an audience to "examine these cards" or "see there is nothing up my sleeves." - I'd learned this before, but had the lesson strengthened, that sincerely caring about your audience and being a gentleman (or lady) will carry you a long way into their sphere of trust. (Richard, despite being raised in Yankee territory, comes across as a true Southern gentleman in performance. He is the only performer who my wife has instructed me to go ahead and buy anything he produces.) - I learned that an audience wants to feel a sense of wonder, if you'll just help them and not challenge them. - I learned that mysteries are more entertaining and awe-inspiring than magic or mind-reading. - I learned that I have yet a lot to learn, but that it's fun to keep learning. Thanks again, Richard! And you too, Henrietta! *jeep! --Chet
