Hi Dean,
Just wondering if you could share your experience of teaching David Copperfield the bill routine and wondering if you had any interesting anecdotes about that experience? THANKS! |

As some of you know, I am a haircutter and have my own shop in Glendale, Calif. One day years ago, I got a call form someone that wanted to learn the $100 bill switch. The person on the other line said it was David Copperfield. I thought it was a joke, so I toyed around awhile asking him to tell me who it really was.
As it turned out, it was David. I was completely blown away. He told me that Mike Caveney had recommended that I teach him the switch so he could do the mis-made bill on his National TV special that year. I said that I would, and met him in Hollywood the next day. I spent 2 Hrs teaching him the handling for the switch. He hired me to do this. He learned it very well and practiced until it was perfect. I can tell you one thing about David, he is a perfectionest when it comes to the art. He wanted every little detail down to the last point. He even called me one night late to ask me about the handling. I could hear music in the background and asked where he was. He told me that he was doing his show at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. He was actually doing the trick live with a close up camera on stage. Here he was calling me at that time, right in the middle of his show to find out one of the details about the switch. My wife and I cracked up on that one. Anyway, I thought that was a bit of trivia that would warm your hearts. See ya, Dean |
