I love the torn & restored transpo routine, but I was thinking about different applications that could be done as a finale. In the end Williamson uses his palm as a "iron" to make the folds dissapear from the card, I was wondering if there is a smoke system that could be added to make this ending even more powerful?
Anyone else been playing around with this idea? -e-

Copperfield does that in his piece-by-piece restauration I believe.

Hi Eirik,
This is by far my most favourite effect. I don't use the ironing bit but simply end with the restoration. People still come up to me and talk about that trick! Check out my review here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......75&0 Jamie D. Grant

I also end this with the restoration, not with the ironing out of the card. I think that the smoke would look cool if done right, but may not be worth it in the end.
let me explain (or think outloud)... when the card is restored in their hands, that is a pretty strong end! Great reactions from this all the time. (agian this is where I end the routine now) taking the card back and taking out the creases, neat, but a little anticlimatic (btw, I did used to do this when I first learned the routine, but through real performances trimmed back what I did not feel was needed. But note, in someone elses hands - maybe yours- and with thier personality, it could be great. Now how about adding your smoke... If I saw you do this, I would say that is stinkin' great! But would the lay people? Maybe they would not even see it. Depends on your performance situation. Are you in a smokey bar or resturant? Are they so wowed by the restoration in their hands that they can't focus right away on this subtle bit? I guess the only way to know for sure if it helps is by trial. Which is why you asked for some help in the first place... sorry to babble on and on. I have never tried this, but you can check out http://www.elmwoodmagic.com/?nd=full&key=1136 If the link does not work, the product is called ultra smoke 2000. let us know what you think. scott btw, when Copperfield used the "steam" to iron out the hockey card, he was zoomed right in on the card. Can't miss a subtle action when it fills you TV screen. He probably had some sort of music effect or steam sound effect when he did it (could be wrong on that tho.... didn't take the time to rewatch the effect, but that's how I remember it.) |

Opps, I found this review on magic Café tonight, it deals with the ultra smoke, like I said, I have never used it, but since I threw the name out there I thought I should point this post out as well....

Thanks for ideas and tips,
I am familiar with the Ultra smoke 2000 and the workings of it. I have also been in contact with J.Miller discussing different alternatives for the smoke production gimmick. I don't own any of the smoke systems yet, but now I was mainly interested in what you guys think of the application to this seemingly "perfect" trick, and I was also curious in which other card effects an ending like this would seem natural. -e-

I personally don't do the final press part. But that's just because I don want to incorporate that third dup.

It's a lot of dups. I bought smoke. I see lots of other uses for this for certain gigs.

Does anyone know if there are any T&R Transpo alternatives using a signed card out on print or DVD?
