I've heard very little about this, but this move, along with the back finger/thumb palm retention vanish sounds very intriguing, and I was wondering if anyone could point me to a DVD/VCD that teaches these moves? I would prefer it in video format if possible, but feel free to name books as well.

Or he might be calling Dr. Barnowski. Apparently, there is an "Open Palm Retention Vanish" in 21st Century Coin Mechanics.

So, OPRV or ROPS? Will the real retention please stand up?

There is an excellent sleight called the Open Palm Retention Vanish which is explained in the book 21st Century Coin Mechanics by Dr. Barnowsky. There are 3 variations of it taught and in each case the silver dollar ends up in a type of thumb palm. There is no video or DVD that teaches this. You have to learn it from the book. There is a Video CD you comes with the book that shows what the move looks like when performed. A demo of the move can be viewed on his website.
The ROPS Move is the invention of Dr. Rubinestein and it is utility move that allows you to steal a coin out of the palm as it closes. That is taught on his Encyclopedia of Coin Sleights video.

Variants 1 and 2 of the Open Palm Retention Vanish are done with the palm wide open and facing the audience. Those are not shown on the video clips on line, only Variant 3 is. Variant 3 is done more like a conventional false placement.
