Michael, I like the effect "Dining on Dollars" but I really have shyed away from performing it lately when I continually experienced certain sharp eyed spectators who spotted the join line where the tear was. (Many times when you snap the bill out for the restoration, the lines don't mesh perfectly!) Anyways, the spectator would shout out their discovery for the whole restaurant to hear, and this was quite discouraging.
Have you had this problem with the effect, and how do you overcome that problem? And If you are lucky enough for the tear not to show, have you worked out an unsuspicious way of switching the bill for an untorn one so that they may inspect it? Thanks!
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

I think part of the secret is a crisp, confident handling that includes a follow up that switches for a regular bill should work in 99% of the cases. For example, maybe snap out the bill, then immediately look at the face of it yourself, and ask, "Who gave me this bill -- you did? Thank you!" As you then switch for a totally restored bill in your pocket. That quickie display where you hold it by the short ends between the two hands should only be held for a brief moment.
