What is the smallest effect you would perform doing street magic and which is the largest?

If by small you mean size of the prop, then the vanishing silk is my smallest effect.

Personally I haven't yet mastered them but if I had the biggest trick would most likly be the Chinese linking rings and the smallest would be either cigarette thru coin or the coin bite

Smallest: Vernet vanishes, and if you measure size by length, then the largest would it would be C & R Rope with a 15 foot rope.
But I do a two ring routine (using some of the moves of Cellini, and Vernon, but my own routines) with custom 14" inch rings, and that play pretty big as the rings are up and down and around me. BroDavid

I also do the silk vanish as my smallest trick. I've also done the Svengali on the rare occasion to very small crowds. For the largest I guess it would have to be a change bag, or a large piece of rope for a C & R.

I think it really depends on who you are preforming for, if you are doing group presentations, small tricks (such as cig through quarter) are not effective, while if you are doing tricks for 1-4 people, these types of tricks are ideal.

A good levitation, like Zero Gravity would have to be the big effect. And a quick card trick or coin in the bottle would be the small effect.

Anybody do Miser's Dream in their street act?
Would this be a good way to open and draw a crowd? Jim

Greetings and Salutations JamesinLA
Cellini talks about doing a Miser's Dream on the streets, using a bucket with a strap over his neck so both his hands are free, and using the coins clanging in the bucket to create a lot of sound. Which will draw attention, etc., etc. I'm considering using Solari's Miser's Dream with my own ending, using the clanging cup as a way of drawing a crowd, but being in KC, I won't be able to give you a report until this Spring. Joe,
I don't know about Solari's Miser's Dream. Where can I read about it? Thanks. Jim

...think not that all wisdom is in your school. You may have studied other paths, but, it is important to remember that no matter who you are or where you come from, there is always more to learn.

My problem with miser's dream on the street or any place you pass the hat is that you are making money appear. Would that not send a message to your audience that since you can make money appear at you fingertips why do they need to put money in the hat?
Just a thought isaac |

Lots of guys do miser's and it doesn't effect your hat. If you are decent they will give you money. That's all.

I really like Satan's Ashes. A card trick where the selected card is written in ashes on your arm!!! Very Cool and EASY to do!!!!
Thanks -Martin- |

Martin--
Seems to me that's not very practical for the street. Unless you don't mind running to the restroom after each set to wash up and reset. How do you handle that? |

Something with fire is always good, conditions permitting. This is especially true at night. Watch out for wind, etc. And always carry an extinguisher, just in case.
A jumbo deck of some kind is always good. There's a lot of disctractions out on the street, and your tricks need to be seen easily. |
