Mr. Carney,
I am so glad that you are here. Thank you for sharing with us. This is probably a very stupid question, but as a person with physical limitations, it has always been of interest to me. If you had to have only one effect or routine that you could do for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why. Thanks, Parson

Only one trick?......sounds like Sophie's Choice.
I don't think I could pick one. If you are limited physically, you can find great inspiration in the books of Rene Lavand. In it, he tells of losing his arm as a young man......he wallowed in self pity until he met a man that had lost HIS arm. He told young Rene......"Oh, the advantages of having one arm!" The lesson was, there were some things he could not do, but he could adapt it to his abilities, not his disabilities......in Lavand's case his ability was a keen mind and determination to find a way. He worked out his own methods and gets more effect out of the things he does one handed, than 99% of the magicians in the world.......me included, I assure you! The message I offer you is the same as those without physical limitations. Study, think, adapt, practice, rework.........use magic as vehicle for discovering your potential as a person. Its using all your resources and having the courage to try. If this is not enough of an answer, then........... the cups and balls. It has lots of effects, lots of techniques you can apply to other magic, and if well done, has a tremendous effect. It has lessons in technique, misdirection, routining, management, and timing. best of luck, Carney |
