Can someone PM me a review of this trick?
Greatly appreciated.

Hi Barry,
I found that just after posting. I was wondering if there is any equivoque used at all, or if the spectator really can choose "any" card. The thread wasn't really clear. Thanks, Howard

Buy it and find out. You are asking for the method, which shouldn't be posted for any commercial effect.

Actually, you're incorrect.
The term "equivoque" is usually used improperly by magicians. In reality, it simly means "Equivocal". If you read how the question is structured instead of jumping to conclusions, you will see that I am simply asking if it is true that no questions must be asked, which, as I read in the forum review, was the case. Asking if equivoque is used is tantamount to asking if questions have to be asked before revealing the card. I don't think I should have to dumb down my language to ask simple questions in order to help out those people on the forum who don't understand the true etymology of the word. I believe that it is a pretty fair question since the effect description, as usual, is extremely vague. Thanks for the response, however.. Howard

If you prefer, I can simply ask if any questions must be asked before revealing the card. Even though the more astute among those on the forum will recognize immediately that I am asking the exact same question, I will, to the joy of the less astute, avoid using the word "Equivoque"
As a noun, which is how magicians use it most often, it means an equivocal statement, ie., open to interpretation or ambiguous. I don't believe that forcing someone to make a certain choice through wording which steers them in that direction truly qualifies as "Equivoque" in the strictest sense of the word. Thanks, Howard

There are limitations. That much was stated in the prior thread.

Hence, the reason that I initially asked for a pm.

Such a shame that Howard's linguistic pedantry is undermined by the mis-spelling of "plums" in his signature...

Well, Ross, all I can say in my defense is...D'oh !!! Sometimes my fingers move faster than my brain. Thanks for pointing that out. But it does nothing to change the facts of my prior posts.
Cheers, Mate !! Howard

Pps. On further consideration, who are we to decide what Billy meant when he made the statement with his hand in his pocket... knowing him, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he did have "plumbs" in his pockets.

Hi, Tuna...fish...
No, I'm just someone who does not like being accused of something by people who do not have their facts straight. In this world, where information is available literally at the touch of a button, there is no reason to argue points or make accusations without first checking to make sure that your claim is valid...in this case, it was not. Ross needs to be more careful when he jumps on other people without, again, checking his facts. Apparently, there are some out there who feel it unecessary to defend themselves when treated badly. I, however, am not one of them. Ciao Howard

He spelt Tim Ellis' last name incorrectly, too.

Wow, this is an old thread...but I didn't bring it up.

If you ask a magician if equivoque is used, the answers you get will be along those lines. It has nothing to do with "fishing", another system in which the magician asks questions to narrow down a selection. Equivoque simply means a play on words, or an equivocal term. Being equivocal means using a word or phrase that can be interpreted in different ways, usually with the intent to misguide or deceive. The magician is using "equivoque", or being "equivocal", to lead the subject to believe that they have a free choice when they really do not. So magicians are using the word correctly, and there's no reason for you to "dumb down" your language. BTW, the "etymology" of a word is where it came from, not its meaning or how it's used.
