Is there a way that you can gimmik a deck or stack a deck then re-seal it in its celophane?

Both David Malek and Sal Piacente show you how to do this on their DVD's about cheating at poker.

There are (were?) also kits available to reseal decks complete with the sticky paper seal. Check your local (or online) dealer.

You can get deck seals from Cards by Martin - I think you get like 40 for $1.50. But the cellophane you'd just have to peel off carefully and reglue, I think, unless you can find the kits Dave is talking about. I've never seen them.

Which DVD is the one that shows you how to re seal it? Can you give me a specific name?

The kits were mainly the deck seals. I don't know if cellophane was included or not. Some careful use of an Xacto knife and a bit of glue is all you need to work on the cellophane.
I wouldn't waste money on a DVD over something so basic. Chances are they're going to tell you the same thing we've told you here. Get yourself a sharp knife and practice on a few. You can go through a lot of decks for the price of the DVD.

It's ok. I just did a search and found something similar to cellophane. It is called shrink wrap. You wrap a special type of plastic around the deck and then blast it with supper hot air. This shrinks the plastic and makes it look like it is factory sealed.

Hey Kauaii,
I'm pretty sure this is the DVD that SilverKing was talking about (Poker Cheats Exposed). http://www.pocketacesllc.net/osCommerce/catalog/product _info.php?products_id=34&osCsid= efa9d42f12ad41a9ace1909e0f6b7169 I kind of watched the whole DVD "in the background" and I don't remember anything about re-sealing cards" but I'll double check it. |

Thank you very much. Just to let you all know I was thinking of doing a somewhat invisble deck with it. By forcing a card using Paul Harris' force for one and only. don't buy the trick. then having it writen on "voodo paper" flash paper, lighting it and throwing it at the sealed card box. Then have them open everything, have them run through the cards and boom there is there card face down among the cards. Also do you think this can be a marketed effect? or did someone already think of this?

Open the bottom of the seal. And use a heated spoon to close it back up.

A couple of drops of superglue on the cellophane seals it up tight, and remains totally transparent.
Go in through the bottom of the box, re-glue the bottom flap, then superglue the cellophane. The top is totally intact because you've never touched the top. Most folks never think to look at the bottom. You get into the deck in the first place by using an X-Acto knife to part the cellophane, and then part the glued bottom of the cardboard pack. |

That Sal Piacente DVD "Poker Cheats exposed" does have a section on resealing Cards.

I used to do that effect a year ago. I went into the box through the bottam as SilverKing stated. I used the cellaphane from boxes of tea to reseal the bottom. The top is the part that is particularly importand though.

Darwin Ortiz has a "back in time" effect on one of his videos (awesome), and if doing this for laymen, I'm sure his method is sufficient....

Joseph,
I was thinking of the Ortiz effect then saw your post. By the way folks, the routine to which Joseph and I refer is of the class of routine that you would do to get that BIG gig. As for the seals, I have found a way to do it that does NOT violate USPCC copyright AND is free. Spectators are MUCH more convinced by the celophane than the revenue stamp. In fact, when I am doing a formal set I hand out a new for the spec to open and shuffle. Well, I noticed that the spec would take off the celophane and hand the deck to me to remove the revenue stamp. They paid little atention to the stamp. So, I tried an experiment: I did the careful removal of the celophane, removed the stamp, put the deck in Aronson, put a stamp back on that I designed in Photoshop, re-applied the celophane, and voila, it worked! I know it seems rather silly to make one's own stamps, but I like to have the option when I run our of the real deal. But I think the underlying point is that only magicians and hardcore card players even KNOW what the stamp design IS. I am ready to try a plain blue square label just for giggles. I think that sometimes we over-think. |

Tips: Seal can removed and re applied by heating with a hair dryer. Also when putting the cellophane back on. be sure to put a couple of pin holes in the top to ease it sliding back on.

I too usually go through the bottom, carefully with an exacto blade going along the existing seam, slicing open 3 sides only. Then carefully opening the cardboard bottom, putting in the work (stack, punched etc) then I use rubber cement. The key is to lightly coat both sides of the cardboard flap - let it dry for a couple minutes. Then press the two flaps back in place (how they were). Then apply rubber cement to the bottom of the box and also a little on the plastic. Do the same, let each dry for a couple minutes, then press them back together.
I use a small pen or pencil dot on the bottom side edge of the box so that I can tell it apart from my "real" sealed decks. Works well, and as mentioned above, no one ever checks out the bottom of the box. (unless you've done a really terrible job on your surgery of the box) |
