Are two silk fountains one too many?
I bought a Mogar Fountain a while ago because I saw Duane Laughlin's lecture but was not ready to plunk down $100. Since than I have used the fountain w/ a fair amount of success. I picked up a Jay Scott Berry Diamond silk fountain because I liked the way it can be produced and am using it in a different show than my regular fountain. I would like to move up to a larger fountain, but than I would have three! Of course I could sell one for a fraction of what I paid, but I hate doing that. I always think in terms of what it would take me to replace it and can never sell anything. Well, almost never. This brings me back to my initial question; can an act stand two or more fountains in separate routines? I think it would be good if one led right into the other and you only pulled your finale silk or flowers or dove, etc, from the final one. Bruce

My feelings are that the silk fountain is a unique enough prop that more than one of them in an act would be superfluous and would lose the "wow" effect. Sell one, keep one for smaller venues, and use the big one on stage.

Hello:
I once saw a video of Lawrence Parsons doing a double silk fountain, one in each hand. He did it by way of the same method that other magicians do the double doves, and it looked very striking. Lawrence is the magician who appeared in the Silk King Studio catalogs for a number of years. Ron |

Two should work in a single routine, but he was talking about separate routines.

Right.
I agree with Amos, doing it twice would be redundant and dilute the effect. I just wanted to hear thoughts from others. Doing it as part of the same production however might work. Ex: after fountain finishes pull silk from inside fountain and start second fountain from there. First fountain would not have final load. It Should give impression of a continuous cascade to final load. Opinions? Prof. Sanders r you out there? Thnx, B

I have used two in the same set in a show frequently. I'm not sure that the audience catches that. The first one is only a little over a dozen silks but it allows me to steal the really big one (about the size of a cabbage).
