One fun reveal when I know the selected card is to "carelessly" drop the deck while shuffling.
Then pick up the "mess" and say, "There goes the experiment I was going to do. Now I have to use a different method." Spread the cards, some face up, others face down (just as you picked them up) and ask the spectator to hold out an arm. Place your had around the spec's wrist as if getting a pulse. Then, move the relaxed spec hand back and forth over the cards. If the chosen card is one of those face up then eliminate all face down cards. If the chosen card is face down, eliminate the face up cards. Then start over with the "pulse reaction test" over all face up cards. Eliminate half the cards then keep pushing cards away until only five face-up cards remain. Finally, slowly touch the spec's fingers onto the chosen card. Say, "I really got a reaction at this card." Note that if you had goofed (which I know none of us has ever done, but just in case) this is also a way out as it was an experiment. |

I used to have a copy of this book and it was stolen out of my car (it was in my workbag) I had looked through it and listed over 50 effects I was going to learn I never got the chance.I use a couple of effects I had learned Observation Test which I think was the opening effect in the book is my favourite opener and one titled pinochle deal or something like that which I have converted to a poker routine.I bet the *$"£ that stole my bag had no idea of its true worth.

There may be light at the end of the tunnel for all the frustrated searchers for "The Card Magic of Nick Trost"!! Chris Wasshuber at Lybrary.com has said that he is considering trying to bring it out as an ebook. He has already done that with many another out-of-print classic magic book -- maybe this one, too? We can hope!
One problem is that some online dealers still claim to have the book, but they really don't actually have it anymore -- they don't even bother to put "Out of Stock" next to the ad for the book on their sites. This is VERY annoying, to say the least. |

OK if spec takes more cards (1/4 to even 1/3) and if the cut for the riffle shuffle is then made "into" this group (which is now easier because a bigger group of cards), it works for me now...some trial and error.
Maybe it helps someone. Have a nice day! |

Control card to top, false shuffle casually while talking about memory
Spread the deck face up and pretend to memorize the order of the shuffled pack. Now face down ribbon spread and have them name their card for the first time. Say oh yes that card was 28th, reach in to centre of spread and remove the selection using Lorayne's Angle Spread. |

I bought a copy recently, and even had a tough time sourcing one that was second-hand, because it's in high demand. Expect to pay $100-150 for a used copy of The Card Magic of Nick Trost in today's market. |
