Hi Jeb,
I know this thread is old but perhaps this message will still reach you... Do you have any video of your work (or of other people using your gimmick) online? I'd love to watch. Thank you! Matthew |

Ya know...The Zombie is a favorite of mine. Short & Sweet. No long floating routines, dancing, twirling, etc. I just do a quick float, peek over the top, vanish, reappear, up and under, grab it and whip the cloth away. The gimmick ends up against the inside of my arm.
A Dream Gimmick would be nice. But, Jeb has stated, they are a PAIN. To me, too expensive for the gain. I think today, one would be MUCH better off forgetting that Dream Gimmick and nab those two DVDs of Jeb's! Let me tell you from experience...the GIMMICK does not make the ZOMBIE! Doug |

In a routine long ago I had face-down coffee cup float up and right itself. My hands were filled with coffee pot and a plate.
No cloth to mask either since it was very brief and against a dark background behind my arm. Kinda heavy for a long routine, but the rubber end of the gimmick just fits the handle hole.

My favorite Zombie is the old fashioned Zombie set up. I bend the you know what and glue the ball to the you know what. This routine was designed for troupers. One can do it anywhere. Pick it up and go. Put it away and it is ready to go again. I often close my close up act with it. At one show a woman ducked behind a chair because she she thought it was coming after her. To me the trick is more like puppetry. To me the ball has a personality that tends to avoid my commands. For giggles, here it is.

I've used a lightweight rugby ball in the past when performing at sports events. I routined it around tries and conversions. It always went down well.

You can talk about this gimmick and that but if you don't have the ability to "sell" it, it is a mute point. My favorite is still Neil Foster. He put personality into the effect. I you never saw Neil do the zombie, you really missed something. The closest thing I have seen is Teller's red ball illusion. Again, he puts personality into it.

A long time ago I was sitting in a theater. Suddenly, I felt daggers sinking into my right arm. I looked down at my arm saw the daggers were my date's fingernails digging into my arm. Then she said, "How does he do that?" She was looking at silver ball floating around Neil Foster. The theater was in Windsor Canada. I took this cute lady up north from Detroit into Canada to see a magic show. Up to that point I did not value Zombie as legitimate magic. Niel convinced me.

Yes. But Al you had the ability make it work closeup. Nobody ever had the guts to work that close with it before you. It was another ground breaking moment in Zombie history.

Very Impressive! The ease with which he attaches and detaches the ball make me think I have mine set up a bit too tight. I'll have to play around with that! |
