Does anyone use a giveaway
as a ... "show this when you come back in for free drinks" coupon? This could be a business card, signed playing card, something. This seems like it could be a good idea. I suppose it could also be used as a... "Show this next time and you'll see an effect you will not believe" Using this approach, you know for sure, the audience is interested in magic and you can use your 3 minute 2 cup routine, or a more elaborate masterpiece that you know will be recieved well with their complete attention. Anyone? Frank

Hi Frank,
I currently give away those million dollar bills using the TT bill switch. The management is thinking of getting money size coupons for me to use at my discretion. Not at every table just for special occasions. B-day, anniv., good report cards etc. David Paul

That is cool Frank. I do that a lot. Troy Hooser has something that was in Destroyers where he asked the spectator to bring back their signed card to him in a few weeks to see something even more amazing than what they just had seen.
????.....Yeah

Very good idea, Frank.
I've not seen it done before. Just be sure you DO have "an effect they will not believe" when and if they come back! |

Greetings,
Yes, Frank, I currently do something like this at Red Lobster. I end my Ambitous Card with card to envelope. Inside of the envelope is their signed card, but also a coupon for a free dessert on their next visit. I tear open the envelope, have them reach inside and remove the contents. They keep the card and the coupon. Trust me, people DO remember this! I highly doubt this is my idea, but give it a try.

Although some of the places I have worked had their own specials that I could work in to my act, I had my own specials for future shows. I made up coupons that looked kind of like $1 bills, but they were a 20% off coupon for hiring me for a private party. I also had coupons for $5 off admission if I had a public show upcoming that I could promote. another thing that I was able to do at Damon's was have them run a commercial I created on the days I wasn't there, and it said "mention you saw this ad and get ______". That got a pretty good response. I think it's really important to promote yourself to get more business and get your name out there.
