I think Youtube is great for learning how NOT to perform magic. I recommend it to my students all the time... watch this guy... now DON'T do it like that!

Let your prospects perform their *own* trick for you *and* your faculty advisor (yes, get one if you don't already have one- you've gotta have at least one math or science teacher who would be willing to help out, or a history teacher if you're lucky...) that way you are covered.
Don't be a controlling jerk, but do maintain a good standard for others to follow. You might encounter some resistance- there are a lot of people out there who want to be a magician and feel entitled to know "the secret" regardless of their skill level or willingness to practice. Most of all, make it fun and not a "magic class" (unless you can get some pros to lecture for you). Good luck- wish I had something like this when I was young!
