Ok folks,
For those who missed the lecture last night in Toronto, you missed a good one. David did some of his truly classic work (including his coins across, hanging coins, three balls, his coin box work and some other great stuff) and talked about important moves, philosophies, and told some great stories (my favorite had to be about him and Jennings performing for some playboy bunnies...) The room was PACKED with over 80 magicians in attendance, and all of them stood up to give David a much deserved standing ovation. Afterwards we went to a local bar to jam, and David fried the heck out of people with... wait for it... card tricks! I guess all that time with Ricky worked out! We then got into a heated discussion about stealing and copying material, and then did some more magic for each other. All in all, it was one of the best lectures I have ever seen. Another card only worker sitting beside me turned and swore under his breath. When I asked him what was the matter, he said "Now I want to learn coin work!" I had to agree. Ben Train

News!!!
David and I just finished the first workshop in Toronto. Attendance was limited to 10 people, and it of course sold out. We actually had a problem, because many of todays attendants wanted to come to tomorrows workshop, which is ALSO sold out! We figured something out, but I digress. David started his workshop by doing a fantastic show, followed by explanations. We discussed multiple handlings for coins through the table, coins across, Hanging Coins, Chink-a-chink, and some KILLER routines with a coin box (there was tons of other stuff as well, including bar bets, wild coins, moves, applications, and stories). He then opened up the floor to questions, which he answered perfectly. It's easy to see why he won lecturer of the year from the magic castle! As a card guy, and a very anti-coin person, I wasn't sure what to expect. But, I was BLOWN AWAY. I loved EVERYTHING he did, and it actually changed my mind about coin work! But, the experience was so overwhelming, that I need to crash now. So, I'm off to bed. Remember: Coins hate to be dropped. Ben Train

I was at the workshop last night.
David Roth is all I really need to write. The man is a god with coins and a gentleman. I knew what he was doing, but I was still fooled. Man that edge grip! Ben already wrote what was covered in the workshop but I would have come out happy with just hearing the stories Mr. Roth was sharing with us or with just watching him perform. Thank you Mr. Roth for sharing your knowledge and answering all questions asked. Thanks Ben for opening your home (It was your families home right?) and bringing David Roth to T.O. I've been to a few of the workshops Ben runs. And this wont be the last. Ben has brought the Wayne Gretzky's and the Tiger Woods of Magic. If you guys ever have the opportunity to go to any of the upcoming workshop that Ben announces. Jump at the chance. Ben is a great guy as are the guys that have attended. I've played around with coins a bit, but now I'm definitely going to practice a lot more. "Coins hate to be dropped." David Roth workshop = 100/10 |

There will be tricks with other objects, and, maybe if you're lucky, some card work (he fooled the crap out of people last night with his card work as well!) Can't wait to see you there! Ben

I've been to 2 lectures and 2 workshops. One with Darwin Ortiz and the other with David Roth.
Truly blessed to live near Toronto and to have Ben bring these masters of magic in. Ben brings the best. Period. |

Saw Roth in Montreal lecture a week and a half ago, very nice work, although he spent a bit too much time talking about his hand modeling carreer.
