Title: Blatresca'a Sleeving Long Objects vol. 1
Language: Portugese with English Subtitles Running Time: 64 min Cost: 22.95 from Madhatter Magic Shop ( http://www.madhattermagicshop.com/magics......_id=5842 ) If you have an interest in sleeving there are several good sources out there, this is another to add to that list. Baltresca covers the sleeving of long objects such as sharpies, pens, pencils, candles, silverware, chopsticks, box cutters, or anything similar, and performs all of them with a standard dress shirt. Despite a slightly goofy personality, the effects are pretty simple and visually impressive. The reason I purchased this DVD is because Gregory Wilson said the following about it: "Baltresca doesn't just toss things up each sleeve. His cleverly constructed sleeving routines look like trick photography! I was rubbing my eyes frequently beyond the beautiful beach babes of Brazil" This DVD is more a collection of moves, than a collection of routines, and all of the ideas are workable into your existing routines. Instead of putting your sharpie back into your pocket, why not make it vanish? Produce a pencil and realize it won't work for signing the card, VERY VISUALLY have it transform into a sharpie. If you're constructing a candle routine like Fred Kapps, you should consider checking out some of these ideas. If you perform walkaround, then imagine grabbing someone’s spoon and performing an impressive hand-washing routine. One additional thing I liked was his transparent sleeves. Beyond being a powerful fashion statement, they allowed you to see what was really happening. I am going to search for a demo video, I'll be right back ....... .... ok, I found one on youtube. This is actually the performance section from the DVD, and I know he is wearing a jacket, but he is not during the explanations. He also talks about why a shirt with a small opening is actually better than a jacket for long objects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1R6t5QoQyo This is far from a complete course in sleeving, but covers some great simple concepts, and is a good stepping stone for future sleevers. I personally like it because I live in San Diego and HATE wearing jackets. As usual Madhatter Magic Shop has the best price (see link above). Matt

How would you compare this set with the dvd set on sleeving by Rocco?
It appears that the Baltresca's dvd is not made in English and that there are subtitles. Does this distract from the explanation? Thank you. Michael

As far as the subtitles go, it is hard to watch the movements and read the instructions. I find that you only read the subtitles the first time thru, the rest of the time you are watching the moves. There is more visual information than spoken information. Carl Cloutier has a good video titled Expert Sleeving Made easy that is also good. I have only seen vol 1 available, the complete set is not out yet.

Montemagic,
Thank you very much for your reply and help. I will probably get both dvds (Baltresca and Rocco). Do you like the effects taught on the Baltresca's dvd? Thank you again. Michael
