I worked out a way to use four miniature queens as a visual aid in this effect.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

I see what you guys are saying about the count taking away from the magical nature of the effect. Personally, I think you can have the best of both worlds by doing the count in an offbeat sort of way... without really drawing much attention to it. Removing the cards and just casually doing the Elmsley (or Jordan) on an offbeat (not even speaking) before you get into it has been what I've done effectively for years. I do agree that pulling the cards out and saying, "Look I've got 1-2-3-4 cards here..." would seriously detract from the desired effect.
That said, I also like to say that doing both Elmsley and Jordan counts for both stacks is kinda overkill IMO. Personally, if your going to do a count, start the cards off ready for a Jordan and leave it at that. Two counts for two stacks of cards before you even get into is stale water IMO.

I use the Jordan count, but don't call any attention to it. I'm just displaying 4 cards as I'm talking.

Elmsley or me.... One of the few moves that I really am proud of. NB: Plus additional utilisation of the flustration move if I see fit.

The first time I performed 'Twisted Sisters' and stated that there were two packets of four queens, I got a few skeptical looks. So I'd always thought that it was necessary to do a Ghost Count, if only to show that there really are only four cards in the packet.
But having read these posts, I have to agree that doing so changes the nature of the effect, making it look more like a sleight of hand trick, rather than a mental prediction effect - which is stronger in my opinion. I think I'll have to work on my presentation and start performing this again.. Thanks all. Syd |

Syd, it's merely a matter of presentation. I introduce it as an experiment with imagination. I'd like them to imagine there are four queens here. There may not be, but I'd like them to imagine that they are. Having said that, I do count the cards as I say it anyway. The whole point of Twisted Sisters is that it is NOT a prediction (like B'Wave) its a transposition of two thought of cards. As such, it's a killer, and in my opinion better as a cabaret effect with jumbos.
I'd try reading the instructions again. :0 Paul. |

I did a very large event using this effect with very large cards (3 ft x 2 ft) I had custom made. At this event I was working with a model/assistant. The effect was almost as interesting as the assistant. Gil Scott |

Not familiar with Twisted Sisters, but if what you wish to hide IS at the bottom of the deck, then you would use The Jordan Count. it can be found In Card College Vol 2.

The next release in Bannon's "Fractal Card Magic" series, entitled "Duplicity," reads like a non-gaffed version of "Twisted Sisters." Bannon has long called himself a "tinkerer" when it comes to examining classic card plots and trying to come up with ways to make them cleaner and smoother (or, often, to just find a way to add a Royal Flush kicker). I'm curious what he's going to do with his own effect. I can think of various ways to accomplish this trick without gaffs, but none of them are clean and more practical than the gaffed version. In any case, I'm looking forward to checking this new trick out at the end of May when it's released.
