I've known Steve since the Brook Farm Inn of Magic opened. He's been a huge influence to how I approach magic. In fact, the night I saw Steve and Bob Sheets do their two man show at "the Farm" I decided to do magic full time.
Steve is without a doubt one of the most creative minds in magic. He's come up with countless cutting edge routines and methods most of which have never been released. Many are classics such as the Mindreading Goose, Steve's Needle Swallowing, Grab n' Stab, his Bill in Lemon and so many more. He's equally adept at both close up and stage magic. He does a great job with illusions and mindreading. He really can do it all. I was very proud when Steve asked me to work opening night at Magicopolis in the close up room. Penn and Teller were doing the stage. Steve has worked so hard it's impossible for any of us to even have a clue to how many hours he's put into making Magicopolis a true mecca of magic. The theater is a masterpiece. He built it from scratch to his exacting specifications. It's perfect for both performers and the audience. The seating is from a very old theater, so old that the seats have hat holders under them. It's simply a perfect venue for magic. If you find yourself in Southern California Magicopolis is a must see. Do yourself a favor and stop on by. I'm working with Steve, Scott Alexander and Thomas Wayne to put the Mindreading Goose on the market. It's a showstopper that is not only practical but a real fooler and very funny. Don't write me a million emails and ask when, how much etc. When it's ready you'll all know. There will be a line waiting to get it from the response so far and it's not even out yet. Last but not least get your hands on all of the video you can of Steve working. His routines show you how a real pro turns mystery into entertainment. He always fools everybody and they always laugh until their guts split wide open... |

Bob please let everyone know I didn't ask you to write all that stuff. Whenever I see words like "Magic God" written about one of my peers I secretly make fun of it. But since, as you said, you'll be putting my Mindreading Goose on the market, all I can say is thanks.

The Goose kills. I still remember that line from the last time I saw your tape, must be eight years ago. I gotta figure that everything Bob said is true. Thanks for the laughs and the insipration. "He's just a goose!" :)

The goose is a comedy magic classic. Great lines and theme. It will sell out immediatly.
Tell them the hysterical story when we did the Morey Povich show and you upstaged Blackstone Jr. I laugh out loud every time I think of it. And I know someone has it on film. bob. |

Oh yeah. I forgot to say,"I'm Steve Spills biggest fan". Few have made me laugh so hard so many times. He knows how to construct a routine.
You won't believe all the awesome magic in the show at Magicopolis. Your show continues to amaze and amuse me. The best. bob. |

Curtis' post is the perfect example of the effect "the Goose" has on audiences. It's really funny, belly laughs not chuckles. Several of the lines are what I call Spill classics, they stick in your brain forever.
Putting it out has been challenging. The necessary props haven't been available for years. When it comes out it will have Steve's stamp of approval on it. We're getting close but it's not quite ready yet, still some things for us to finalize. I can tell you that nothing will be left out. The training will have footage of Steve's live performances, the explanations will be shot in our studios, the necessary gaffs and or course the Goose will be included. At this point in time I can't tell you when or how much. When we know the first batch is almost ready we'll start taking orders. As each Goose is handmade I'm sure it won't be long before there's a waiting list. This one will be a BK Pro Line product as is a complete finished professional routine you can virtually drop right into your act. It plays incredibly big. But remember this is only one of Steve's killer routines, he's got a ton of others. Hopefully he'll decide to release more once the Goose is out. |

Boy ... where have I been all week!!!???
I need to chime in here and add my thanks and admiration for one of today's magical treasures. Imagine this I move to Colorado in 1977 ...fed up with the SF bay area... I meet Bob Sheets on a night that changed the direction of my life permanently... several months later... I am absorbing as much magic as I can Bob decides to open a magic bar in Aspen.. The Jolly Jester... so he invites some of his old magic pals out to help him get this off the ground. Suddenly I am surrounded by a bunch of guys who I have never heard of before... JC Wagner, and Steve Spill, Eddie Houlihan and later, Eddie Goldstein, Johnny Fox Who knew that the 'faculty' of my new 'school' would consist of some of the best magicians of our time. I am truly blessed to have spent my early formative years with these guys... I echo Sheets comments about not believing that Steve cut that bachelor party story loose on this forum. I was there in the audience for.. absolutely one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Steve's magic is not only well thought out and constructed, but it is loaded with some of the funniest moments in the list of today's performers... Perhaps Steve's greatest trick is keeping the doors open in a magic club for 10 years. Besides being one of the most innovative minds in magic, his business acumen and ability to keep it all afloat for this long ranks as one of his best accomplishments. Steve's show is remarkable. The construction and execution of a long show like Steve's is a marvel to watch. Sorry that I haven't been here all week to add comments... All the best to Steve and Magicopolis... Doc
