I think both were EXCELLENT...in their own ways. The Prestige was obviously a bigger film in many ways and it was a truly international exploration of magic, competition, etc. While the Illusionist was a much smaller film with the definite feel of a play (it would make for a GREAT play.) But if I gotta choose one, I'd choose Illusionist.

It's funny you say it would make a great play. I've been an actor for a number of years and I was recently discussing with a Director and Playwright about how wonderful it would be as a play. I'm glad one of the top magicians of our day feels like I do

I too prefer the Illusionist over The Prestige. While both were very well put together I feel The Prestige let me down with the whole Cloning idea. I found it a very disappointing ending overall.

As a magician- I found that both films provided a refreshing change in magic conversation with normal folk, as opposed to the barrage of Criss Angel/ David Blaine questions throughout the past handful of years.
