Hello, new center deal videos. Just wondering if you think it is a big tell when tilting the deck when dealing to yourself...? Take a look:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_rAgQrVfB0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCV5x9bNuIE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvLcAQ6huik From the front I can do the move with the deck straight (except the regular fingerflash etc which I hope I will decrease more and more with practise), but then I flash too much at 1:30 and isn't it more important to be consistent? Not that often my 1:30 - 2 o´clock would be clear anyhow...? Currently working on rhythm etc and sometimes I don't hesitate when dealing to myself, at all, sometimes, I do. The problem I can't fix without disturbing the rhythm completely or tilting the deck, is the right angle. Any ideas? Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks, Kim |

Looks great to me, the tilting of the deck is a bit exaggerated and I'd do it more naturally, besides that, the deals looked amazing and the finger flash was minimum.

I know you like input and I wish I could give you some, but I don't know much about the center deal. I think besides what you and magician8 pointed out your deals look great. unless your formally dealing in a casino or any type of formal center dealer setting, you don't have to worry about keeping such a strict rhythm in my opinion.

Looks cool to me and I don't think the tilt is a problem really.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Thanks for your replies. papermechanic, I am a perfectionist and I want the move to be as good as physically possible I did notice something just now though when I practised. Right after posting the videos, something about my rhythm. I think it will improve in a lot. Problem remains though, unless I tilt the deck when taking the card, the player to the right will see me open the deck up = very bad thing.

Absolutely fantastic dealing, Kim. As has been mentioned, the only "flaws" I see are the rhythm and tilt. However, calling them flaws is hardly realistic. Your deal is beautiful.
Out of curiosity, which method are you using? I see a bit of Marlo in the technique, but I don't think that's correct.

Hello daniel, thanks a lot for your kind words. The deal is actually something I came up with after watching videos and dvds of centers. So, I guess there could be a little bit of Marlo there as well, eventhough I don't remember if I have seen him do a center.

I might have something up my sleeve about the right angle but I am not sure it will work. I need to be more skilled in some areas of the deal before I know if it works or not. Of course, any advice is still very much appreciated.

I might have a solution but will require a lot of work, if it evens works out the way I hope, I don't know yet. So if you come up with something, let me know. Thanks, Kim |

You could try to bend the deck back a little instead of opening a big break, of course, I don't know if this is good for your type of deal, but it helped me a lot once.

I think these are my favorite center deal video's...
I love the fact that there is no visible break and that the grip on all your deals are the same. Your rhythm is very nice... USM |

USM, thanks. I am always trying to get better though. I hope I will get rid of the flaws eventually, if possible.
