I started magic about the time yourI've noticed that you have created (and must do) magic and mentalism effects. Obviously Sinful and Indecent are magical but Stigmata and Control are more mentalism and border the bizarre side of magic. My question in a normal routine (during a show) do you mix these effects? Maybe not these but do you mix magic and mentalism and what are your views on this subject? I personally mix a lot of genres but I know some mentalists (and some magicians) who advise against it. Just wanted to know your view.
Second question is: Do you lecture? I can't think of anytime I've heard of you lecturing. I bought Stigmata when it was released and I just got control and I have to say that you are a good teacher. I give you props. You make everything clear and you are pretty thorough, I was just wondering if you also do lectures. If you do...then COME TO DENVER. We need lecturers bad. Third Question: Can you shave off your goatee? It looks just like mine and there's not enough room in this world for the both of them. Thank you for your consideration Peace JC

Greetings!
Regarding Mixing Magic + Mentalism: Yes, I do mix them quite a bit. I however do not present mentalism in the typical fashion. Much of my stand up performance revolves around what can be achieved via different psychological techniques & techniques used by con artists. I am aware of the debate on whether or not one should mix a mentalism style effect with a magical effect. There are some good points on all sides of the debate, however the extremist arguments that say one should NEVER mix the two are very weak. Ultimately it comes down to YOU & what YOU as a performer want your audience to take away from your performance. If your goal is to convince the audience that you actually have the power to read minds (whether or not you explicitly state this) then sure - I can buy the argument that throwing in a card trick or other "magic" effect may diminish your "credibility" etc. etc. If that's not your goal however... then there is more than enough room to mix magic & mentalism. Thanks for the reply, I totally agree with you as I mix them as well. Maybe you didn't see the other quesitions. It's cool, it's just really important that you consider shaving your goatee. I can't sleep knowing that there's another one out there in the magic community. Thanks for your consideration.
