I would like to have a spectator pull a card out of a stripper deck, show it to others, sign it, and put it back in the deck. Sounds relatively easy. But how can I be guaranteed that it gets put back in the right direction. While it is being signed and handled by the spec, I'm thinking that it might get turned the wrong way and I might not sync the direction of the deck correctly. Any suggestions.

This will be interesting.
I would control the card back to top/bottom and check on the orientation at that point. But if you control the card what is the point of using a "Stripper"? Just a thought! Cheers!

You're having the selection signed? It seems like such a waste to let someone tag up your stripper deck like that, but hey, it's your trick. You must have your reasons.
One solution that might work is to mark the entire deck in such a way that you'll have a one-way back. When it's time for the spectator to return the selection, use a "deck stab" insertion. In other words, have him hold the selection face down in front of him. At that point, you can see whether the marked end is pointing toward you or not. Hold the deck up to the selection in the proper orientation and have the card inserted anywhere as you riffle the outer end. |

Card tricks demand control weather it's a stripper deck or not? The only thing that I could come up with is watching the edg of the card and twisting the deck to the other drection.

You need to do a bit more research into "spectator management" followed up with additional investigation into "planning for conditions that are in flux due to spectator handling of a prop".

Chapter 6 of my book "The Stripper Deck" is about card turning techniques.

I too have always had trouble with spectators pulling out their selected card and then rotating it at the last second before they put the card back in. I try to watch how they handle the card, but that's been rather hit or miss. Is there a good, conventional way for spectators to get to pull the card out themselves but make them less apt to change its orientation? I feel like somebody must have something like this. Maybe Jon?

Does the spectator specifically have to handle the card? You could push off cards from one hand to the other, ask her to call "stop" wherever she wants (possibly with her eyes closed), give her a choice of the card you're about to push off or the one you're currently pushing off, turn the choice over and turn it when you return it.
If you have it returned to the top of the deck, there are visual clues you can use to tell whether the card's in the right orientation, too |

Lou Derman addressed this very question in Linking Ring back in the early 70's. In fact he ran a contest for suggestions on controlling the return of a card to a stripper deck. If you can find some of the old issues, there were some interesting suggestions in them.
