What is the difference between an "Invisible Deck Bicycle" and a " Jumbo Invisible Deck Bicycle"?
magicboutique.sg magicboutique.sg Is it just the size (and the price)? Thanks. |

The way I figure it about $35.12.

One more question for you good folks.
I found a cheaper version, is it as effective? http://www.magicboutique.sg/invisible-deck-royal-p-7192.html |

But the website says "Available with on Royal Stock or Bicycle Stock. Please specify when ordering"?

I personally get nervous with an invisible deck today...I recently saw a magician work a trade show and use the invisible deck.
When the magician finished the effect a spectator (adult) asked loudly of he could see the other side of all of the cards. At first the performed pretended he did not hear him....the the guy repeated and insisted...so the magician put the cards away and simply did the next effect. In general, I felt bad for the performer..... Bottom Line: too many people are buying the invisible deck and the secret is out...why take a chance. I personally go to "public" magic stores and toy stores to find out what people are "knocking off" and I refuse to do them...and if I do use the prop...I certainly use it in a non-standard manner, so the basic effect is not recognized. At least that is my opinion PS: I was particularly disgusted when I saw invisible thread being sold for $20 in Vegas to anyone...but, that is old news and the damage is done already.

An interesting point, Expertmagician.
Perhaps my imagination, but I have the impression of an increase in what I would call the "mean spec"- the one who is intent on busting the magician. I have noticed this to the extent of altering my presentations so as not to ask questions the answers to which give "torpedo" opportunities to the spec. I have not yet been busted on the ID (I usually use it outdoors when it is too windy for most card effects) but thanks for the tip - "forewarned is forearmed", no? Jim

The ID isn't that well-known among laymen yet as far as I see it - the Svengali deck is though.

Chias, the Jumbo Invisible deck is, of course, jumbo size for stage. It is more difficult to handle, due to its size, than the regular size ID. The Bicycle Jumbo ID is better quality than the Royal version.
The ID is not overexposed. I've been doing ID for twenty years, no one's ever asked me to see the other side of the deck. If it's presented properly, it fries brains.

Does anyone know where I can locate a Jumbo Mental Photography (Nudist) deck? I've checked on all the major online dealers' websites, but no luck. The only alternative is to get one custom made, but it'll be rather expensive I'm sure!
Thanks in advance! |

I believe, Haines House of Cards carries this item.

I've never had that problem either. One thing I do is that when the card is seen reverse I cut that card, while upjogged to the front, which brings a back to the top. Before the revelation the card is taken in one hand and the drops to my side casually showing a back.

Hi,
I am new here, I own an ID, I got it from a local magic shop, by reading the sleave that fits over it, it says it was from murphys magic, my question is do all IDs come set up to work with the minus from 13 method or do some come with another method, I am not asking for the order or method I would just be interested to see if there are some IDs sold in bicycle with a different order, and if so were I might be able to purchase one, because I don't feel like making my own method. |

I would be suprised if there were another method for the setup. It has to be the 13 setup due to the fact that there are only 13 values in any suit. Mathematically it only makes sense.
Also.... in regards to the post above about spectators wanting to see the back side of the ID.... you should check out "Complete Invisibility" by Cody Fisher. Imagine an ID that you can show both sides... it is possible!

With the jumbo ID, I think it makes more sense to hold the cards up in front of your face and fan them out. This also gives the advantage of actually seeing the chosen card, besides making for better visibility from the stage.
Be aware, though, that a jumbo deck is pretty heavy and thick. If you're used to the regular ID, you may have to adjust some of your handling techniques. Ed |

Boris Wild has "improved" the ID in his book about his marked deck. He has changed the pairing and also the layout of the deck to lessen the chance of the spectator seing a system (all evens for instance...) but in my opinion it's a moot point.
If you never have worked with a ID it could be of interest, but if you like me have done it fore some time it's not worth the hassle to memorize the new way (I know, I'm lazy...) Mikael Johansson Sweden
