I was given this pic of me springing the card and was surprised at the distance. What do you guys think?

Nice one there, Rob. The pic looks great! I wish I could start learning how to spring cards.

I don't spring cards the way everyone else does, and it seems to give me more distance (the way I do it, anyway).
Instead of doing it with the top and bottom edges, I do it with the corners and cards fly faster AND farther. If it's distance you want, try it with the corners. |

Yeah, that's a cool distance for beginners in flourish. I can do twice that distance in that way. But try to do it upside down with the distance in that pic. It's a bit hard, but very possible. I do it all the time.
Anyway, just thought of letting you know about it, for those who want something more challenging.

Hi Rob,
Very nice springing you got there! TO THE OTHERS: Do you really think spectators keep a mental tab of which magician can spring the farthest??? Is it too hard to simply give some positive (or at least constructive) feedback??? This ain't no contest!!! If you say you can do better, then give the others advice and/or tips or something, don't just brag about it for the pleasure of it. My 2 cents (and why I don't post often in this section of the forum) Ronnie Lemieux

Go get 'em Ronnie.
Great Domino, I also use the corner spring, but as you have noticed during the springing action it is quiet compared to the end for end spring. I tell people that this is my stealth mode spring. LOL Skulldini |

corner spring? is it harder to control the cards that way?

I think that corner springing actually makes it easier to control the cards. Springing by the corners is taught in Expert Card Technique and also in the Encyclopedia of Card Flourishes.

That's right! You get so much more control of the flight path of the cards. It's also convenient as it's not so loud and doesn't drive the girlfriend mad.
