Most rope tricks can be done using balloons. I do a prediction type effect with 4 different colored balloons using the magician's force technique.

My 2 cents worth; Spikes for Skeptics (Owen); Super Needle thru Clear Balloon. Done right, they are both miracles!

Lozax,
Some of my favorite magic with balloons that can be done when you're line working are Tenyo's Balloon Illusion (technically, the tube is not gimmicked in the classic sense of the term in that you can hand it out for examination any time you like) and Balloon Detective (Devin Knight), a mentalism trick especially for twisters. Another great balloon trick is Pressure by Garcia in which you pass a cell phone into a sealed balloon. Because everyone has a cell phone, it is easy to borrow what you need (you supply the balloon and a spectator supplies the phone. By itself it isn't much (and will fool only the brain dead), but Christopher Lyle, an excellent magician, came up with a method by which you can inflate the balloon with the phone still in it. It really does strengthen the illusion, and I would never do just pressure without Christopher Lyle's addition. One other that seems to be relevant is Deep, in which you swallow a balloon. I personally would not do the trick ever because it requires you to stick a balloon into your mouth, something that I constantly caution all my spectator's not to do. However, it does look like a baffling illusion from the tapes I've seen. Magical things, Zipper |

My Magic Balloons...
By. John Rivav Effect: Performer shows a yellow 9” silk. Spectator is asked to sign the silk for future identification. Performer says that he will vanish the silk with the spectator's help. Something goes "wrong" and the silk does not vanish, instead it changes to a yellow balloon. A second spectator is called to help to vanish the yellow balloon. Something goes "wrong" once again. The balloon has changed from yellow to red. Performer proceeds to inflate the red balloon and burst it with a knife, revealing that the yellow balloon was inside. The yellow balloon is inflated in the same way and burst with the knife, revealing that the signed yellow silk was inside the balloon. Watch at: http://www.jrmagicstore.com |

Jeff Hobson's "Live" video has a routine called "The Balloon Bag". It's a whole routine centered around a doggy balloon.

Sorry. Had I looked down the list, I would have seen it was already listed under another topic.
