Hello Everybody,

I would like to announce a new product coming soon to http://www.homerliwag.com; The Rice Papers.

The Rice Papers are a never-before-seen set of lecture notes for a lecture that was cancelled at the last minute. It features 3 routines from my repertoire; routines that I did every night at Illusions Restaurant between 1989-1994. The original notes were written and illustrated within 24 hours and 10 or so copies were made just before the lecture was unfortunately cancelled. I have expanded the text to make the explanations more detailed and did a new layout with my original hand-drawn illustrations.

The Rice Papers will be available this week once my website is updated.

Thanks!

Here is the text for the website. More info soon!

The Rice Papers is a glimpse into the visual magic of Homer Liwag. Originally created for a lecture in Indiana back in 1993, the lecture was cancelled and The Rice Papers were never published. 15 years later, the original text has been expanded with the original hand-drawn illustrations and printed in a beautiful 32 page saddle stitched book. 3 of Homer's pet routines are presented - including the Sharpie and ball bearing sequence that he performed countless times nightly at Illusions Magic Restaurant from 1989-1994.

Contents:

New Introduction and History
Body Contact: A giant contact lens production and eyeglass production sequence, all happening at the finger tips. Opening sequence developed by Michael Close. Ending inspired by Vernon.
All Fogged Up: A handling of a Richard Kaufman effect where a blank card visually materializes into the spectator's selection.
Marksmanship: Homer's bread-and-butter routine where a marker is extracted out of its own cap and a large ball bearing is dropped out of the tip! A variation of a Jay Sankey effect and a tribute to Rocco!

Homer, Sorry if this was ask already, but, Do you think you'll ever have time to do a lecture tour ? I'm sure it would be well received.

I am looking forward to this release! I would love to see you lecture Homer, but I understand you are quite busy =) If things ever slow down, think about lecturing in Boston!

Hong Kong is one of my favorite cities! Love the late night markets and Victoria's peak. Love going up to the Phillipe Starck bar at the the Peninsula Hotel. And of course the Golden Arcade for all the bootleg software. Its great looking out at the audience in David's show and seeing tons of recognizable faces - famous chinese actors that you wouldn't know their names, but you sure have seen them in tons of movies.

That's a lot of tourist stuff I know, but I would like to see more!

Indeed, Victoria¡¦s peak night scenery and the late night markets in Temple Street are definitely attractions for tourists. Especially a lot of new buildings being built in the last 10 years make the scenery more beautiful. Our government even organized some special light effect at 8 pm so that tourist can take pictures / videos of the harbour scenery.

The Bar at the top floor of the Peninsula Hotel must go once for a life time, particularly for guys. You must, must pay a visit to their gentlemen¡¦s room. You will definitely feel ¡¥I am the King of the world¡¦ when you XXXX at 3X stories high¡K hahaha¡K

The Golden arcade changed a lot after local authorities prosecuted those who sell pirated software, now the arcade is a tourist scene for computer goods / PSP / Xbox 360 / Wii / NDS, you name it! It just like the one in Tokyo, and we even have computer festival every year to attract more tourist. I believe that Hong Kong is one the best place to pick up electronic / camera goods because my cousin in law also pick up a new Nikon camera while he resides in California¡K

Of course, those software still available in the arcade next to Golden arcade¡K.

Movies stars, when CHOW Yun Fat, Jackie CHAN, Jet LEE, Andy LAU (He is public know he practice magic a lot), Stephen CHOW, Tony LEUNG¡K yeah they are good actors and represent Hong Kong movies to the world; it¡¦s the same in the last 10 years or so.

For clubbing, you must visit Lan Kwai Fong, a street in downtown Central where bars all over, especially Dragon Eye ¡V a Club where most beautiful models in the city do clubbing every night. It is not easy for locals to get into there, but I know David and you can go inside with no problem.

I am, indeed anxiously waiting the release of Ricepapers lecture notes on the otherside of the globe. Thank you Homer for being a wonderful week in the magic cafˆm and answer my questions. I appreciate and enjoy very much.

Wow Andy Lau...a magician?! Another craft to add to his many gifts. He would certainly inspire many young Hong Kong fans to study magic.

Great to have you on the Café floor Homer. It was nice of you and Chris to stop over at our seats during the Philadelphia Copperfield show. Still enjoying your Cointwo DVD!

I'd just acquired a copy of The Magic Man Examiner with Homer's Flash Rice. Really looking forward to the Rice Papers notes too!
