Hi guys,
Does anyone happen to know whose effect is this: Card Thru Card I'm trying to list effects of the type card thru solid (with appropriate references) when I came upon this. Is it in any known (or not so well known) book or DVD? Thanks for your help,

Hey, thanks for the reply, NeoMagic.
Yep, it seems quite similar, with the added bonus of one card changing into another. Still, I'd like to know if there's a similar effect that can be found in a book or DVD. Thanks again for your help, man

This trick is a very good example to figure out by logical thinking.
1. Card-1 never penetrated the face of card-2 as it was unharmed at last. 2. The half part of card-1 was seen when card-2 was opened as if it was penetrating card-2. If you think these two facts together, you will get the answer. Logical thinking has two merits. You can save money and can improve your creativity. Hideo Kato P.S. I suspect if this can be used in real performance as the gimmick is exposing in the beginning part of this low quality video. |

I believe Ken Krenzell has a ungimmicked version but I could be wrong

Thanks, Ray. It seems to be the same one that NeoMagic posted.
Hey Vinny, thanks for your reply. Are you referring to 'Soft Cards' in Close-up Impact?

Which one, Ben? Ken Krenzel's or Rob Bromley's?

Jay Sankey has one in his L&L dvd set, which is actually quite good, and uses a very common gimmicked card, plus its very easy to setup and the reset is instant. Both cards can be examined.
I used to do it a lot 2 years ago, always get a good response. Personally, I think it looks much prettier than the Rob one above. dj's looked nice too, reminds me of a Paul Harris effect in AoA, also a card thru card ( impromptu ), with a very good presentation. Goeff Williams has one too, called I hate David Copperfield. ~ Feras |

Thanks for your reply, Medifro.
What's the name of that Jay Sankey's effect? Is it in "The Very Best of Jay Sankey"? 'Cause I don't recall any effect of card through card there... Quote:
Goeff Williams has one too, called I hate David Copperfield Yeah, it's his handling of Larry Jennings 'Close-up Illusion'. Pretty good.

Hey double,
I wasn't referring to any particular handling, but rather the affect itself. It lacks an aesthetics value- it doesn't look beautiful, and it doesn't really evoke any emotions (except maybe pity...)

Looks very beautiful in my eyes ( to be specific, the Sankey version, the version dj posted above, and the P.Harris one ). Maybe a matter of personal taste, or maybe not. Got no rational explanation really ( same I don't have a rational justification on that I a DPS, then overhand shuffle. I can hear wDuncan screaming ). Doublelift: Its his Very Best of Jay Sankey, vol.3, called Slipstream. Cheers, ~ Feras |

Feras,
I LOVE being proven wrong. If you've found a way to make this beautiful I would LOVE to see it, and looking forward to changing my mind. Ben

I loved your logical thinking comment. Something I have often felt, more magicians should use in watching performances. It has helped me immensely! No offense meant to anyone of course! Best, Josh |
