I use a lot of crimping techniques to temporarily "mark" a card. Does anybody have any other resources they can point me to for marking a card in other ways? I have read a little about using "daub".

How about using your thumb or fingernail to make a slight indentation?
Can not be seen, but can easily be felt.... Chris

Good idea, I will experiment with that.

It depends upon how sophisticated your audience is....a nail is good if no one looks for it....
Or if you work for a very knowledgeable crowd you may want to use Juice Dust or, better yet, N-Dust. However, Juice and N-Dust will take some practice to learn to read and is overkill for most audiences.

Roger Klause once showed me a technique in which he would scrap his left thumbnail along the edge of the card as he used his right hand to push the card flush into the deck. Then, with the card safely marked, he would immediately hand the deck to the person who had selected the card, and he would ask him to shuffle the pack.

I've been a firm believer in just a simple crimp since learning "Sam the Bellhop."

It's easy to make a short card with a nail clipper, and I just so happen to keep a little one on my keychain.
Many of my friends would probably be surprised to learn they have a queen of hearts that is just a tiny bit shorter then the rest of there cards in there own pack.
