Hey all you card fanatics. I don't do too many cards effects. I do enjoy one or two card effects. (that is, effects with 1 or 2 cards, as opposed to a full deck) I seldom play with a full deck anyway. I currently do, regularly, Chap trick by Mark Jenest, a signed T&R, Star Warp, and A two card interlude. Can anyone suggest any others.
I really enjoy card tricks that aren't the normal "pick a card" variety. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching them but my performance style lends itself to mutilate and animating cards. thanks for any advice

Some good four-card effects are "Doc Daley's Last Trick" (Jacob Daley) and "Twisting the Aces" (Dai Vernon). Both are on volume 2 of Ammar's Easy to Master Card Miracles.
If you're not opposed to using gaffed cards, the "Two Card Monte" in Mark Wilson's Complete Course is an option. |

Uh oh, I have a bunch of favorites here (in no particular order):
"The Close-Up Illusion" (Larry Jennings, uses 3 cards) "Bear Hands" (GW, a non-lethal variant of Jim Pace's "The Web", uses 4 cards) "Card Warp" (Roy Walton, uses 2 cards) "Over Easy" (Bob Longe, uses 4 cards) "The Whole Card Trick" (Emerson & West?, uses 4 cards) "The Ultimate Torn & Restored Card" (John Mendoza, uses 2 cards - sort of) "Color Monte" (Jim Temple, uses 3 cards) "Uploopted" (GW, bare-hand card levitation, uses 1 card) "The Floating Card" (Jerry Andrus, uses 2 cards) "Technicolor Prediction" (Ed Marlo, uses 4 cards)

You might like Steve Fearson's Thumbthing. Two cards stapled together with a hole in the middle. (It's getting weird already) Put your thumb through the hole, then push a third card between the stapled cards, and therefore through your thumb. Ouch it hurts.
If you like the sound of it check out his website. Thumbthing is a fun thing. |

Isn't The Close Up Illusion by Jennings Bob Ostin's Submarine Card? And the later Cervon Monte?

Not sure I understand your question. Are you asking if the Jennings effect and the Cervon effect are the same? Or are you asking who should get credit?
Close-Up Illusion is Jennings effect, and it's different from the Cervon Monte.

I was under the impression Cervon Monte was the same gimmick, as the earlier
Jennings effect, and that both were based on Bob Ostin's Submarine Card. But, I'm going on memory, which is fading fast, so could be wrong. Paul. |

The problem with the later (yes there is a fatal flaw) is the presentation is too perfect. How do you not clone that routine? "Do you date a supermodel?"

Paul--
I didn't mean to say that you were wrong, just that I wasn't sure what you were asking. While the routines use similar gaffs, they are different.
