Hello everyone

have had a search on the Café and cannot find much about this... I was wondering how everyone carries their wand during tablehopping/close up. the wand I use is a 13inch wand not a small one to keep in my pocket.

p.s I don't use a close up case

I place it inside the coat pocket which is large enough for a 13 inches wand. Sometimes I sleeve it and make it my first effect. At times I use the pocket wand (8-9 inches) for smaller items such as mini chop cups. There are times I just carry it around and make it my conversational piece.

Thanks for the reply james sounds good I just made a wand and was thinking about making some sort of attachment for the inside of my jacket or belt. like the idea of opening with it. I can also see a lot of comedy and conversation (as you mentioned) with a wand.

Frank Balzerak uses a plastic drinking straw as a wand for a creative sponge ball routine. If I were doing table hopping, I would try to use a straw for as many things as I could. Hard to do a Mora Wand Spin with a drinking staw though, but the flip stick move works great. Once I started looking I realized that straws come in great colors and sizes. There are some really large ones, like 14" long and colors range from solid black, green, red, or white. Just a thought for table hopping.

Joe Porper makes a folding wand. He also provides a nice protective pouch for the wand.

I use a short wand that is easily put in any pocket.
For obvious reasons this is a preferred locale.

I was going to say that a 13" wand seemed a little large for close-up work.

I use an 11" and find that it's plenty big enough. SETH

I got a telescopic pointer. Fits nicely in my inside jacket pocket and when needed extends to 14 inches.

FWIW

I use one half of a screw together brass tipped wand (the socket end). It fits in almost any pocket I have. I'm usually looked at with questioning glances and I explain that the National Association of Magicians (or make up some other name) won't allow me to use the other half until I get better and pass some initiation tests and rites. The self-deprecation angle works very well, especially after you've just fried their brains with a spectacular effect and you ready to do it again with another brain freezer like Mendoza's chop cup routine. (it's quick and deadly)

When I bought my Raydu wand from Rannie Raymundo, he provided it with a black velvet drawstring bag. Very nice & good protection. Maybe he sells them saeparately?

I just had a 10" ebony wand made for strolling and it's beautiful.
It's a tad bigger than 1/2" in diameter which will help with locating it in my pocket and with wand spins with such a short wand.

Can't wait to use it.
