Since I haven't got the opportunity to study this book as much as I want to yet, I have a question for those who have. Although I thoroughly enjoy studying manipulating cards on table surfaces, I typically perform walking around and strolling. So, are there any effects in this book that some people have enjoyed performing without a table surface? Perhaps an effect that you've modified for strolling magic?

I'm sure there's endless possibilities that I'll realize once I get a little more time to study the different tricks in the book. Just curious what others have to say...

All the Best,

Yes.

I feel that part of the fun is to read, get the effect in mind and then come up with one's own handling to suit the conditions that one performs in most often.

The problem with Ortiz is that his methods are already quite close to "it"- most direct, ingenious and practical. You then tend to not want to come up with any other handlings and stick to his!

Do you decide which books to buy based solely on the criteria that they have effects in them that you would perform in your current performing situation?

I've yet to see a Darwin Ortiz effect that I feel the need to come up with my own way of doing it. The fact that his methods are ingenious is not what I would call a "problem."

"At the Card TABLE" is not the first place I would look for standing/strolling routines...

Erm... I meant "problem" in an ironic way. I'm a fan of Ortiz and 2 or 3 effects I use are based on effects from him.

Sorry if you misunderstood me. At the Card Table ISN'T the first place I'm going to look for strolling routines. I just thought that since magician help magicians here at the Café I'd kick the idea around a little bit.
