I understand that your opinion may differ from mine and I'm OK with that. But I think you missed my point entirely. Could be because I didn't make it as clear as I could have.... SEY |

The effects on the DVD and lecture notes are far beyond your abilities. (They require mastery of the mechanic's grip.) It would only break your heart. Sincerely, Darwin Ortiz.......(This post has got to be in my top 5.) |

Spencer was only asking for comments on his execution of the anti-faro. A bit of ego-stroking? What's wrong with that?
I don't think he was asking anything else. One comes along and gives him non solicited advice and gets stung? What do you expect, gratitude? Well, I'm sure Spencer does not rescuing either, mea culpa. |

I agree. Phrases like "Telling it like it is" or "speaking your mind" often seem to imply a ticket to be overly harsh or indeed rude. A good teacher encourages and (when necessary) carefully redirects the student's enthusiasm. If you really care enough about the way this kid is using his time to write him a PM then perhaps you should have thought about this. If you don't care that much then perhaps its best to say nothing, roll your eyes at the younger generation's misuse of time and then move on.
Just a thought from a fellow teacher! David.

Thanks.
I wasn't overly harsh. My PM was misinterpreted. Spencer and I are friends now. He and I have both let it go. So should you. SEY |

As Steven said, we are cool now. When I read his message, it was late and I read it too quickly and overreacted. I apologized and we discussed the issue privately. Now let's live our lives.

Congrats, Steve. You got into a dust-up with a 15-year old and managed to come out looking like the more childish one.

Back on topic: I thought the anti-faro video from the original poster was excellent.
I have always been interested in Tamariz's writing on the anti-faro, but he seems to suggest quickly dealing out the cards which seems a tad longwinded. |
