Thanks Dan!
This is a topic that comes up far too often. And it is good to read more solid info on the subject. BroDavid

Andre has a cool site and solid information.
He did forget about the three Magi who brought gifts to Jesus then listened to the angel and took the long road going back. Most folks refer to them as the three "wise" men.

My comment is with BroDavid, I have read your posts and from the readings in my Bible you are right on time.. God Bless you and I hope he uses you in some way to shed light on this highly important subject of differenciating magic tricks from psychics and witchcraft in which I would personally have no part in or support in any way. I believe there is a big differnce in the magician who does the magic tricks (to entertain) than a person who claims to have powers and can talk to the dead.. or conjurer up dead spirits. This is a bad area to be practicing in and I would advise anyone who is caught up in this to repent and turn away from such things... you don't know what your dabling in. In My opinion!

For those who know who he is, Haddon Robinson is a Preacher's Teacher. He has written numerous books on Preaching and Teaching from the Bible. He is solid and no nonsense. One of his Great Questions, when somebody makes a "Theological" statement is;
"Where did you get that?" The Bible, in context is his authority. And that is a great question for us to ask ourselves.. but on to magic... A few months ago, I heard him on a Radio program he regularly hosts (Back to the Bible?) but he was talking about Magic. And he told of being enamored with Magic tricks as a kid, and even still being interested. He spoke specifically to the Issue of Christians and performing Magic Tricks. He said the Bible doesn't warn about card tricks, and sponge balls. It warns against spiritous endeavors and seeking and consorting with spirits and demons. His books hold a high place in my Library, and his intrepretations are highly respected by more Godly men than me. So I was greatly encouraged to hear this. Magic is generally Ok for Christians. But consider the leading of the Holy Spirit in your magic. If you are being convicted about a particluar effect, or magic in general, put it aside until you can receive the necessary wisdom to deal with it permanently. I gave up magic for almost 10 years, for personal convictions (not about magic - but about about who was getting the Glory for my performances). Now God is using His gifts to me, in marvelous and wonderful ways that I could never have forseen. His Gifts, His Glory, in His Time! It took me 10 years to figure that out...... I may be slow, but I am trainable. BroDavid

I also have wrestled with this issue, and like Bro David, I gave up magic for about 5 years just to make sure I was willing to put God first in my life. But now, since getting my priorities straight, I am back into magic and using it in powerful ways to teach gospel truth. God has blessed me tremendously in using magic for His purposes, and I believe it can be done for His glory.

The book Greater Gospel Magic gives good insight into this topic. Well worth having in your library.

May I recommend another excellent article entitled, "Should a Christian Do Magic or Conjuring?" by Bob Hill. Bob is a missionary in Greece (I think he is still there) and a very creative and respected member of the Gosple Magic community.
