I just received an e-mail from Jack Maxwell. Jack is the owner and proprietor of Wizard's Apprentice magic shop in downtown Hollywood Florida.
The e-mail I received: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The Wizard's Apprentice Magic Shop will be closing the "Brick and Mortar" shop in Downtown Hollywood Florida. Don't worry we're not disappearing for good... FINAL DAY Sun -Feb 15TH. After 6 magical years of owning the largest magic shop in the state of Florida, owner Jack Maxwell has made the decision to close his doors to his downtown Hollywood store. He will continue to sell magic at new rock bottom prices on a brand new website that he will be launching soon! By cutting out his overhead expenses, Jack will be able to offer a more competitive price range that will surely entice magician's from around the globe." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is really sad. Jack and Stan are great guys and I'll miss this place. I'm glad Jack is launching a new website and I wish him all the success in the world with it. But at the same time, I hate to see a great brick and mortar shut down. This seems like a common thing these days however. All my best Jack... I learned a lot in your shop and I am forever grateful. I'll really miss the lectures. Tim

The effects on the DVD and lecture notes are far beyond your abilities. (They require mastery of the mechanic's grip.) It would only break your heart. Sincerely, Darwin Ortiz.......(This post has got to be in my top 5.) |

Huh. I was in Coco Beach, FL for the whole summer. looked in yellow pages, online, but never even knew it existed. I drove to Daytona to see that shop, would have loved to have known about this one so I could have went and spent some money.

Eugene Burger made an interesting comment about this recently... "Pendulums have a habit of swinging back and forth..."
Let not your heart be troubled - we are on one side of the pendulum swing. It will swing back... |

That's too bad, but I don't think "the largest magic shop in the state of Florida" line was quite accurate. But it was indeed a nice shop! I always popped in when I had gigs down that way and usually bought something to support the brick & mortar.
