I have been thinking about adding Vent. to my Magic Act, I have been Practicing for some time (about a year) with my vent skills. I haven't purchesed a Figure yet and would like to. Any suggestions as to where to start looking, I don't want to spend a lot of money on my first firgure, And I DON'T want an all cloth Figure. Any help would be appreciated

If you don't want to spend much money - I don't recommend a hard figure. A cheap figure looks like it sounds...
Cloth puppets are great if you purchase them from a quality maker - they hold up well and they have a lot of character. Since you don't want all cloth - try Axtell. His characters look great, are durable and people love them. |

If you do want a hard figure then you can certainly purchase a quality figure from Dan Payes and his prices are very reasonable. Here is his link http://www.danpayespuppetry.com/
His figures are now being used by many pro ventriloquists. Dan http://www.ventriloquistcentral.com |

Folkmanis makes some very reasonable priced and wonderful characters.
Check folkmanis in a search...as well as the usual places... craigslist ebay thrift shops In our area we also have US Toys that has 2 rows of puppets... Some don't like off the shelf stuff..I use custom, created/made by me and yes off the shelf... Harris

He looks friendly, which is a plus if you are working for kids.
Don't just buy a puppet to have one though! Make certain you create a profile of the character - his background story & history. Know the voice you plan on using. Advance thought will save you the frustration of owning a puppet you don't use. If you've already done that homework - and he fits the bill - you can't go wrong with an Axtell. |

Tacrowl, Thank you for your Advice. I Have been thinking just that.... As I said in my earlier Post I have been practicing for about a year, The voice I seem to always use and comes Naturaly to me is that of an elder Gentlemen. I think Grampa Floyd may just fit the Bill.
