I agree with Puff Daddy about the clear Teflon tape.
It's worth the extra cost in my opinion because a roll will last you years if not a lifetime. I use it on a non-soft coin in a 3 Fly routine to virtually eliminate any sound of the coins talking, and I feel completely confident leaving the coin in the specs hands to be examined if I so desire. You simply cannot see it or feel it even with a pretty thorough inspection. It's super thin and works great, plus it lasts a very long time. I also use it inside of sh***s and there is no discernible difference in edge coverage. Wonderful on split coins too. I got the 1.5" wide roll so I could use it on dollar size coins as well. It's the best IMHO, and for those using Lassen gaffs, you probably want the best, don't you? |

This thread is a little old but just wanted to say thanks to Poof and Videoman as they helped me out considerably with their posts.

How do you all cut the tape into circles so it fits the ]s neatly?
Thanks for the help. --Frank |

I don't. I line two strips up that meet in the middle of my dollar shells then I push them down good and press them tight in the edges with a bic lighter or something like that. Then I take an exacto knife and trim just inside the rim all the way around. It is not always "pretty" but it works and really the only thing that I can see is the seam in the center and the circular cut all the way around (just inside the rim edge).
Half dollar and quarters don't need a seam in the center as my tape covers them. ( they do make a tape wide enough to do a dollar coin without a center seam but I already had a whole roll of the other).

I do the same as Poof. Even if you could cut perfect circles, and I doubt a large hole puncher would work well with such thin tape, it would be nearly impossible to get it to fit properly inside the shell. You would need to cut them much smaller than the shell, which is fine too. Appearance really isn't important here as no one but you will see them.
