Thank you David Todd... send a note to Richard Kaufman @ Genii and let him know exactly that!
upcoming in my next three columns will be some work on the hydrostatic glass, the vanishing and appearing cane, and the lamp chimney vanish.

J Neal... Will you ever release your Canes & Chains routine? It was the talk of the Magic Castle back in the 80's but to my knowledge remains closely guarded by a few witnesses. Alas, some things are destined to be legends I suppose.

Hey Ray! So much history in that one! Better left as a ‘legend’ I believe .... as I could not have done it without you! Same with that Houdini ‘tribute’ we did...
Seriously, it is great to see you posting again when your schedule permits. You are the busiest guy I know, perhaps Magic’s ‘Hardest Working Man in Showbiz’!

You and your magical thinking were and continue to be a huge inspiration for me. I credit my time at Hollywood Magic with you and our time together at the Castle as everything that made my magical career what it is.

I've only ever witnessed this trick performed live once, and that was in the late 1980's by Neil Foster at a Battle Creek magic club meeting just before his death. Neil used a piece of green construction paper and a red silk. He performed it horizontally, in stead of vertically, the way most seem to perform it. It was quite magical. I'll never forget it. Because of that, I bought the Snip-Snap Silk from Tannen's and found it disappointing, as the gimmick was cheap and construction was unconvincing. JNeal, your write-up in Genii is an excellent and more thorough examination of the miraculous effect. I think Neil had a few extra subtleties that take it even further. All-in-all, in the hands of Neil, it was an amazing masterpiece that I still remember to this day, some 40 years later. Thanks again for the write-up. It has reminded me of how wonder this is and how lucky I was to see it in the hands of a true artist.
