This has been advertised from time to time by Hank Lee as an exclusive. I am always a bit wary of exclusive items since it limits the source of unbiased information, not to mention what it can do to the price.
The effect reads as impossible, but then that is how they are supposed to read. Anyone got any real world experience with the thing? Is it truly practical and what is the general consensus in the illusionist community - would it cut it in an illusion show? Any info would be greatly appreciated. BTW All of you have a happy but thoughtful Memorial Day.

Anton Corradin has a website where you can see the illusion in action. I'm also positive that it is NOT exclusive to Hank Lee because I've also seen the advertisement on the hocus-pocus website.

What is the effect? Is there a description online somewhere that you can post to this site?

You can find a reasonable description at:
http://hanklee.org/xcart/customer/produc......p;page=1 I looked over the apparatus at the recent Hank Lee Cape Cod Conclave, and it is well made, and pretty practical. You will definitely need an offstage area to get set, though. Personal strength vs. assistant weight is an issue, and people with back problems would want to avoid this. In my incredibly limited opinion, it is a good effect with lots of variety possible. It does not have to be a 30 second illusion, as described. You can easily produce themed items from the box when telling a story, and the assistant appears in themed costume, et. al. I still consider the Gift Surprise for an idea that came to me; to merge this with a "haunted dollhouse effect" ala Paul Osborne. Functionally, you carry out a lightweight dollhouse - however, it's painted to be a "haunted dollhouse." Various haunted floating items can be seen floating inside the opening to the dollhouse - it's pitch black inside, of course The audience would never be the wiser that a hidden friend could be responsible, and effects could happen that cancel out any thoughts of a "remote control" rigged device. Including loud, shrill screams, moans, and loud banging from inside the box. --- Guy |

That's a pretty clever idea for a production, I must say. If you could show the box empty first it would be even more baffling. Hmm....
