Jay Leslie got his first tricks for his 11th birthday and when he fooled his father with the Cups & Balls he was hooked. At the age of 14 he was a regular performer on the Bozo The Clown Show (syndicated in Pittsburgh). He was also the resident magician at Busch Gardens where he performed 6 shows a day 6 days a week. Jay then moved to California and produced 3 different illusion shows that toured for over 10 years.
All this time, Jay was friends with James Swoger of the House Of Enchantment. Jim semi-retired and moved to California where Jim and Jay made illusions and other tricks. One day Jim said to Jay "give me a dollar" and with that, Jay Leslie owned the House Of Enchantment. Tricks that Jay invented include: Coin Thru Coin, Kineti-Key and Ultimate Ring & String to name just a few and he has also produced DVDs for magicians and escape artists. The real focus of the manufacturing business is taking aspects from one or more effects and combining them. An example of this is a Rabbit production that has elements of a Peppers Ghost, making the rabbit appear to materialize. Today the shop produces about a hundred different effects. When not building illusions, Jay is out performing. He is one of only a handful of escape artists to escape from a real jail under challenge conditions, has a degree in theatre and holds a non-magical patent which he hopes to produce someday. - - - -
