Sure. Although, I could write a book about the work surrounding that book, so I would appreciate if you could re-phrase your question to be more specific.
Is that all right? |

About 80% of the material in the book have been published before, and has been culled from ebooks, lecture notes, swedish magic magazines (Tricks, Dr. Faustus Journal, Trollkarlen, Enigma etc.) and various booklets (Coercri, The Warpsmith's Toolbox, The Warpsmith Returns etc. ). A lot of it has been updated and revised though.
About 20% is new for this book. There's a good helping of card tricks, but there's plenty of parlor and stage magic as well. I suggest you keep an eye at the review section of Magic Café, because (hopefully) people who have read the book will give a more unbiased description of it. |

Hello Tom
I'm trying to make a pre-Vortex bibliography: Here is what I found. Could you complete and/or correct it at least for the booklets and the major magazine articles? Flatland Fever A Bite, My Dear Fogg Fuzzy Logic Marvelpiece Skerries Prey of the Prestidigitator The Eye of the Dragon Charron Randomwalk Moonshine Monologues Coercri The Warpsmith's Toolbox The Warpsmith Returns Genii: Cylinder and Coins

Hello Etienne.
Some details can be found here: http://geniimagazine.com/wiki/index.php/Books_by_Tom_Stone And Stephen Minch did a "publishing history" listing on page 254 in "Vortex" |

Hi Tom,
Nice to see you on the Café as a guest of honor. Being in magic for a while, I have given up on Close-Up magic and am only interested in Stage/Parlor magic. I was lucky enough to get your Moonshine Monologues before you closed up shop. What other booklets have you published on Stage/Parlor magic. Although I love your writing and unique names you have given your material, it is confusing to detect Stage material. Any help would be appreciated, I looked at your index on "Vortex" and did not see any Stage material, but am surprised to read that you mentioned there is Stage material in it. |

Hello,
Stephen Minch divided the book into sections, with close-up in the beginning and larger format further to the end. On page 77 begin the section on formal close-up/Parlor, and on page 159 begin the stage stuff. Among those are a routine for Cone&Ball, a Himber ring routine, a Benson's Bowl routine, some rope effects etc. http://geniimagazine.com/wiki/index.php/Vortex Keep an eye on the review sections of magazines to get unbiased opinions about the contents. I think Genii will review it in August. |

Thanks Tom,
I will place my order for the book very soon. I do not need to read a review, as I have said your unique views are a delight to read, and analyzing your ideas are refreshing to me. |

Hi Tom
I just received your Vortex book yesterday. The book is beautifully done. While I appreciated the ebook versions of some of the chapters, it is especially nice to have them and all the other material gathered into a formal book. I look forward to reading what you have to offer in the coming days. Before I had to surrender the day to sleep last night I read the introduction and browsed through the book. This is surely something to be proud of. John

I think it is great that you are leading by example. In my experience, I have found that most artists are very appreciative when you ask them for explicit permission to use their ideas in a derivative work.

May we order your book, "VORTEX", directly from you and that way get it autographed. Please let us all know that.
Thank you for your wonderful column in Genii magazine. Every month, when I read it, I learn at least several things. It's made me a better Magician. I will be thanking you for that forever. It's been a great pleasure to meet you if only by forum use. Someday I hope to see you perform live and maybe get to spend a few minutes talking with you. You're a wonderful Magician Tom. Thank you, dsalley13/ woman Magician, letting her Magic bloom late in life, but the petals on that flower have never been more colorful and vibrant.....thanks to kind and sharing Magicians like yourself. |

Dear dsalley13,
Unfortunately, the cost to first send the books from US to Sweden, and then back to US again, would be prohibitive, so no, unfortunately, I don't sell the book myself. I'm glad to hear that you've enjoyed my Genii column! |

Just wanted to also say that I have LOVED your Genii column. Even though I am not making a theatrical show, I have still taken away a lot of great advice. Good job Tom!

Good to hear! Since I'm far away, very little feedback reaches me, so it is great to hear that the column is being read.
